국문 초록

학생의 잠재 능력을 평가하겠다는 입학사정관 전형을 실시하는 대학과 선발 인원이 급격히 증가하고 있지만, 이를 바라보는 우려의 시선도 많다. 무엇보다 입학사정관 전형의 공정성에 의문이 제기되고 있다. 공정성이란 무엇인가? 공정성을 어떻게 확보할 것인가? 이 글은 이러한 문제의 해결을 목적으로 하였다. 사전적 의미, 아리스토텔레스의 개념 정의, 학계의 연구 동향 등을 분석·검토하여 본 연구는 공정성을 분배의 공정성을 의미하는 ‘치우침 없음’과 절차의 공정성을 의미하는 ‘절차에 따름’으로 정의하였다. 이러한 공정성을 확보하기 위해서는 입학사정관의 전문성 확보와 입학전형 규정의 형식적 및 실체적 공정성의 강화가 요구되었다. 입학사정관의 전문성을 확보하기 위해서는 우수한 전임 입학사정관의 채용과 충분한 교육, 특히 보정교육과 모의평가 교육 등이 충실히 이루어져야 한다. 실체적 공정성을 확보하기 위해서는 학교 교육을 충실히 받은 학생이 합격할 수 있도록 학생 선발 과정과 선발 기준이 확립되어야 하고, 유사한 모집단위별로 대학간 공통적인 전형자료와 평가기준을 만들 필요가 있으며, 다양한 지역 및 계층의 목소리가 반영되도록 규정을 제정해야 한다. 그리고 형식적 공정성을 확보하기 위해서는 제정된 입시전형의 내용이 일관되게 해석되고 적용되어야 하며, 전형 규정이 사전에 충분히 고지되어 투명성이 확보되어야 한다.

영문 초록

Since 2007 to advance their freshman selection processes several universities have introduced admission officer system in which professional admission staff review admission applications. In this year, it is expected that the number of freshman selected by the admission officers in many universities will be increased greatly. Recently, however, many people have raised certain problems such as distinctive feature of each universities’ admission officer system, insufficient institutional supports, and lack of understanding about the system among parties immediately interested. Particularly, the major issue regarding the system is fairness, the consistency of selection by admission officers. The purpose of this study was to search for the ways to ensure the fairness of admission officer system. To do this, to analyse the concept of fairness was to be done in advance. The concept of fairness in admission officer system includes equity(distribute justice) and consistency(procedural justice). To make admission officer system much more fairness and for the authority to select the best candidate, it is required to recruit good admission officials, educate them properly. And it is often thought that there is a kind of minimal fairness that involves interpreting and applying rues consistently- i.e., applying the same rules impartially and equally to each candidate. It is formal fairness. We usually think of formal fairness as a good thing, but it is hardly the only good thing. We should think of substantial fairness as sensitivity to all applicable moral reasons. To do this, we have to make rules for students who have studied their subjects for themselves without private consulting to pass the entrance exam, and the same procedure and process in applying for similar majors of universities. And in making rules for selecting the best candidates, the university must consider all the different requirements from the different areas and classes.
