국제결혼이주여성과 이주여성노동자의 교육 참여 현실과 평생교육의 방향성 모색

국문 초록

본 연구는 그동안 평생교육학의 영역에서 본격적으로 논의되지 않았던 이주여성의 교육과 평생학습의 문제를 고찰하고, 다문화시대 평생교육이 나아갈 방향성을 탐색하기 위하여 출발하였다. 구체적으로 첫째, 이주여성들의 교육 참여의 현실과 도전이 무엇인지를 분석했고, 둘째, 이주여성들을 위한 평생교육의 역할과 개입은 어떤 방향에서 전개되어야 하는지를 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 국제이주결혼여성 3인과 이주여성노동자 3인이 면담자로 참여하는 질적연구방법을 채택하였고, 다양한 심층면담 자료 및 성찰 일지 등을 종합적으로 분석하면서 다각적인 코딩 분석 작업과 삼각 점증(triangulation)을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 이주여성들의 교육 참여는 가부장적이고 성차별적인 사회적 모순과 구속(교육 외적 문제)과 동화 및 전달 위주의 제한적인 교육내용과 취약한 교육인프라(교육 내적 문제)로 인해 제약을 받는 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구는 평생교육 영역에서 이를 극복하기 위하여 이주여성의 평생교육 실천을 위한 4대 과제를 도출했으며, 이들의 자기 변혁과 시민적 역량을 제고하기 위한 새로운 평생교육 기획과 전개 방법론을 구안하였다.

영문 초록

The surge of international migration has brought a multi-racial and multi-culturalconfiguration in Korean society. This inevitably calls reshaping a new research flow and practice of lifelong education embracing disadvantaged marginal migrants. In particular this aim of study is to investigate female migrants' educational opportunities and to lead a new direction of lifelong education in the multi-cultural era. To conduct this study, I espoused a qualitative methodology conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews with three marriage-migrant women and three female migrant labours. Different data including participants' self-reflective journals and field notes were analyzed employing coding axis and triangulation. Major findings revealed that female migrants' participation of education opportunity was highly restricted due to male-dominated societal binding and limited educational contents and weak educational infrastructure for female migrants. Thus, this study suggested four pivotal dimensions underlining the role of lifelong education to empower underprivileged female migrant in Korea. Lifelong education should lead a new paradigm shift to enhance their participatory citizenship and social inclusion. This study also addresses to broaden education opportunity and local-based civic network for female migrants. Finally study demonstrated that lifelong education could develop a comprehensive learning support system with the ethos of 'learning to live together' and 'cultural diversity' engaging with different migrants and local citizens.
