This paper intends to introduce the materials about the 'forcedly mobilized Korean laborers' in Hokkaido. After reviewing existent researches on 'forcedly mobilized labor'. I examined the condition of materials held in the libraries.archives.museums in Hokkaido. In conclusion, I suggested that Korean and Japanese researchers make a network for examining relating materials. The most important collections of raw materials about the 'forcedly mobilized labor' are Record on the Forced Mobilization.Forced Labor - Hokkaido.Sakhalin(Gendaishi [Modern History] Publisher, 1974) and Testimony of One Million People : Grudge of Forcedly Mobilized Korean Laborers (Toho [Eastern] Publisher, 1999), which contains oral testimony of the victims. The Hokkaido Provincial Office examined the reality of 'forcedly mobilized labor' in Hokkaido through the experiences of Koreans alive from 1994 to 1999 and published Report on Forcedly Mobilized Korean Labor in Hokkaido. The publication became a milestone for the research of 'forcedly mobilized labor' in Hokkaido. Another materials in Hokkaido are Hokutan(North Coal) materials held in the North Center of the Hokkaido University Library; sumitomo Mining Office materials, Nisso-Teshio Mining Office materials, the Hokutanmanzi Coal Mine and Kita-Sapporo Office materials held in the Hokkaido Museum of History; Sumitomo-Utashinai Mining Office materials in the Hokkaido Library; Kyowakai(Integrating Association) materials in the Hokkaido Archive; Hokutan-Horonai Mining Office materials in the Mikasa Municipal Museum; Sumitomo-Konimai Mining Office Materials in Monbetsu Municipal Museum; materials in the public Assistance Section of Hokkaido Welfare Department; materials about the Korean remains in the Nishi-Honganzi Temple in Sapporo. As for the libraries and archive in other regions, there are a number of materials about the 'forcedly mobilized Korean labor' in the Modern Japan Political History Materials Room the National Diet Library, National Archives of Japan, the Diplomatic Record Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Coal Center in the Kyushu University. However, Korean researcher have difficulty in making use of the materials. They are nor allowed to read, copy, and photograph them in most libraries, archives and museums. The problem should be solved in order to collect and carry the materials about 'forcedly mobilized labor' into Korea. What I want to suggest is to organize a network. The Korean researchers could organize an effective network with the Japanese researchers and those working in the concerned institutions. Through the network, they can investigate materials together and research them in cooperation with the libraries or the museums and that would help material problems.
