국문 초록

비장애청소년와 비교 시 장애청소년의 졸업 후 진로 및 직업실태의 현황을 살펴보면 그 결과가 낙관적이지 않다. 장애학생들의 학교졸업이후 성인생활의 질을 개선하기 위해서는 학교생활을 하는 과정에서 부터 성인생활로의 전환에 필요한 지원을 받아야 한다. 전환교육 및 서비스 지원은 장애학생들이 성공적으로 성인생활에 참여하도록 하기 위해 학생들의 자립생활능력과 사회생활, 직업생활 모두를 고려함과 동시에 학교, 지역사회서비스기관, 가족들의 효율적인 협조체제를 통해 이루어져야 한다. 최근 연구에 따르면 부모참여는 장애학생들의 성공적인 성인생활로의 전환으로 연결시키는 중요한 요인들 중의 하나이며 적극적인 부모참여는 더 나은 졸업 후 결과를 가져온다고 보고하고 있다. 따라서 이 논문은 학부모와 협력하여 계획을 수립하는 데 있어서 장애청소년들이 현재 받고 있는 전환교육 및 서비스에 대해 학부모들 이 어떻게 인식하고 있으며, 전환교육 및 서비스에 대한 그들의 요구가 무엇인지 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 조사대상은 평택 및 안성지역의 장애인 부모회 회원들 중에서 장애청소년을 자녀로 둔 학부모들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 설문지는 기초사항 8문항과 학교에서 실시하는 전환교육 및 서비스 인식 19문항으로 구성되었으며, 연구조건에 부합한 학부모 100명 중 97명이 응답하였다. 회수된 설문지들은 빈도, 백분율, X²들을 통해 분석되었으며, 분석한 연구결과는 학교 전환교육에 대한 학부모의 인식 및 요구, 개별화전환교육계획에 대한 학부모의 인식 및 요구, 사회로의 전환에 대한 학부모의 인식 및 요구를 중심으로 논의 및 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Transition to adulthood for students with disabilities emerged as a critical topic within special education when the first cohort of special education students that exited school exhibited poor outcomes. Over time, research has supported the critical role of families in facilitating positive transition outcomes. Above all, families are an essential source for information on the strengths, interest, needs, and desires of students with disabilities, thereby helping professionals better develop postsecondary goals. To provide appropriate transition services, it is important that professionals must understand the values, attitudes, and priorities of the students with disabilities as well as how family views transition education and services that their child receive. In other words, the effectiveness of transition services is likely to be linked to the degree to which professionals can listen to youths with disabilities and their families as they identify their strengths, needs, and expectations. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to identify how parents view transition education and services that their child receive and what they want for improving their child's postschool outcomes. The survey was developed to investigate how parents of adolescents with disabilities perceive transition education and services and consisted of two sections including background information and perceptions. The survey was distributed using a convenient sample through Parents Self-help Group in Pyeongtaek and Anseong. Ninety-seven out of 100 distributed surveys were returned. The results indicated that most of the respondents were not satisfied with transition education and services that their child with disabilities receive, wanted to involve more in individualized transition planning, and considered that adult agencies should be bridged to their child's transition into adulthood. Conclusions were drawn from the results and suggestions for addressing the results were proposed.
