The purpose of this study is to search for a clearer understanding of the missionary situation in Cambodia and to examine some useful missionary tasks that can be used there. This paper begins with a report about religions and culture in Cambodia. Except for the Cham minority, who practice islam, Cambodians are mostly Theravada Buddhists. However, most Buddhist records, libraries, monasteries, temples and shrines were razed and the monks killed by the khmer Rouge, It wasn't until 1989 that the government again recognized Buddhism as the state religion, and since its recognition, the people who have been aided by businesses, have been making great efforts to restore the heritage destroyed by the Khmer Rouge. This paper surveyed the history of missions in Cambodia in the 20th century. The first missionary was Rev. Arther Hammond, who landed in 1923 and was a member of the christian & Missionary was Rev. Arther Hammond, who landed in 1923 and was a member of the christian & Missionaries Alliance(C&MA). David Ellison, who was also a member of the C&MA, came to Battambang at end of 1923. Arther Hammond began to translate the Bible in to the Khmer language in 1924 and finished in 1940, At present, approximately 250 Korean missionaries work in Cambodia. This paper suggests three useful tasks for missions in Cambodia. First, the contextualization of missions is a basis of theology for missions that comes from the theology of 'God's mission'(missio Dei). Missio Dei does not orientate itself to the western military mind, but to a servant mind by the cross of christ. God's mission focuses on the mission of the Holy Spirit, who is the presence of Christ. The commission by Christ follows the promise of the Holy Spirit's presence(John 20:21-22, Acts 1:8). The free action of the Holy Spirit breaks down the walls between culture, religion and nations. Second, ecumenical missions that focuses on cooperation and unity, was the first problem for world missions. The Ecumenical Movement came about from the movement of missions during the 1910 World Mission Conference in Edinburgh. The church, a tool of the only one God, should be prepared for participation in God's mission. JAM(Jj Asia Mission) has established the Mission Center House in Phnomn Pehn, which will serve a major role for the cooperation of Korean missionaries in Cambodia. Jesus Christ sent out His disciples to the world prayed for their unity(John 17). Third, missions today should include not only evangelism, but also social welfare Missions for Christian social welfare(holistic missions) have a deep purpose and serve a role as the bridge between God and the world, Most of the population in Cambodia are yet poor because of the continued corruption and political uncertainty. Also, missions related with social welfare and medical services, educational and economic services are very necessary in Cambodia. Particularly, services for physical and spiritual healing are very important for Cambodians who have experienced the tragedy of the 'killing field'.
