시각중복장애 학생 부모 요구에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

시각장애 학교에서는 상당수의 시각중복장애 학생들이 교육을 받고 있고, 그 수는 점차 증가하고 있으며, 학부모들의 교육적 요구도 높아지고 있다. 이 연구는 시각중복장애 학생 부모가 느끼고 경험한 현상을 어떻게 재구성하고 요구하는지 현상학적 연구 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 1) 연구 참여자들은 자녀가 단순시각장애 학생들과는 다른 한계를 수용하고 있었다. 냉정하고 담담하게 자녀의 현재 상태에 대해 진술하고 있음은 ‘학부모가 자녀들의 한계를 알면서도 억지를 부린다’는 학교 현장 교사들의 시각중복장애 학생 부모에 대한 생각이 실제와 편차가 있음을 보여주었다. 2) 연구 참여자들은 시각중복장애 학생들이 학교 구성원으로 인정받고, 필요한 교육을 받을 수 있는 환경이 조성되기를 바라고 있었다. 연구 참여자들의 공통된 의견은 학교에서 시각중복장애 학생이 소외받지 않기를 바라는 것이었다. 중복반 및 개별화지원시스템 운영과 관련해서는 운영 방식 이전에 아이들의 특성에 맞는 지도 방법을 찾고 지도해 주기를 바라고 있었으며, 방과 후 학교 운영 면에서는 형식보다는 그 안에 담겨지는 내용물에 더 관심을 보였고, 수업 방법에 대해서는 가능성에 초점을 둔 지속적 학습활동이 이루어지기를 소망하고 있었다. 교사 역할과 관련하여 연구 참여자들은 교사가 아이들을 대할 때 가능성에 초점을 두고 대해주기를 바라고 있었으며, 아이들이 내용을 채워가는 과정에서 많은 관심을 보여주기를 원하였고, 학기 초 시각중복장애 학생들의 정보를 미리 공유하여 그 특성에 맞게 교육적 서비스가 제공되기를 희망하였다.

영문 초록

Most of the students with visual impairments and additional disabilities like autism and mental retardation have been taught in a blind school. The number of the students has been increasing and their parents have been asking for much more educational services for their children. This study is to analyze how parents with the students with visual impairments and additional disabilities accept, reconsider and reorganize their experience on physical, cognitive development of their children and what kinds of educational services they have been requesting in a way of phenomenological study. Results indicated that, 1) the participants of this study accept that their children have limits to learn and to be improved cognitively and emotionally unlike simple blind children without other disabilities. They describe the present cognitive and emotional conditions of their children reasonably and objectively. It shows that the idea of school teachers that parents with students with visual impairments and additional disabilities make unreasonable demands on them to teach their children beyond their developmental capabilities can be wrong. 2) the participants of this study hope that students with visual impairments and additional disabilities will be accepted as members of school and educational environment to meet their educational needs will be built up. A common idea of the participants of this study is that students with visual impairments and additional disabilities should not be excluded from school. When it comes to management of class consisted of students with visual impairments and additional disabilities and individual support system, By analyzing the needs and characteristics of the students, teachers should design the most suitable teaching method for each individual and teach them effectively. The management of a after-school class should focus on its content more than form and its teaching method should be a continuing learning activity concentrating on potential of students. With regard to role of teachers, they also hope that teachers treat their children like people who have the potential to be able to do whatever they want to do. They also want teachers to share information about their children with other teachers at the beginning of the semester and to provide them with suitable educational services to meet their educational needs.
