영문 초록

Every year cultural festivals are held by each local autonomous entity with financial support by the government. Annually, there are around 50 cultural festivals in Korea. Four of the cultural festivals are connected with ceramics: Gangjin Celadon Festival, Mungyeong Traditional Tea Bowl Festival, Onggi Expo Ulsan Korea and Ceramic Festival of Gimhea. Ceramic festivals consist of around 10% of the total annual festivals. Meaning that ceramics are an important part of local economy, culture and society. As well, events like these can help establish communal identity and maintain cultural traditions. We researched how each festival effects its local economic, cultural, and societal institutions Firstly, we studied each festival's present condition and found out the problems from 2006 to 2008. Secondly, we tried to propose the methods to solve these problems. We hope that our study could give suggestions to many local festivals on how they may get encouraged, incorporate their gifts, and utilize their strengths.
