The present research places its purpose on initially analyzing the instructional contents and systems of honorific forms appearing in the current textbooks and (the 7th curriculum. 2007 revised) curriculum of
the Korean language to investigate and analyze the actual conditions for the various usage of honorific forms that are being criticized within the daily language lives of elementary school students over grade 3 by
questionnaire surveys to closely examine its results and problems and ultimately grope for instructional plans for such the results 1n chapter II, the concept and system of honorific forms, the basic undamentals of honorific forms and the instructional contents of honorific forms within the curriculum and textbooks in the theoretical background were closely examined. In the instructional contents related to honorific forms of the 7th and the 2007 revised Korean language curriculum and textbook were mainly focused on the grades 3 and 4.
Moreover, with the fact that no instructional items related to specific honorific forms in grades 5 and 6. it can be seen that the instructional contents on honorific expressions weakened as th e grade level was
elevated. In chapter III . the results for the actual usage of honorific forms of elementary school students that were investigated through the questionnaire surveys were analyzed. For the subject honorific form. the
nominative case ' 께서 , and the titles towards the parents were examined. The results displayed for the greatest number of students using 'mom and dad' and there were less number of students who rightfully knew and used the expressions of 'mother/my dear mother' and the honorific form of us and the normal form of us . Moreover ‘ there existed students that could not rightfully concord the nominative case ’-께서 , and the prefinal ending '-(으) 시.' Within the questionnaire surveys related to the prefinal ending -(으)시-', for instances of various declinable words appeal‘ ing all at once. most of the students did not clearly know where to insert the '-(으)시-.' Within the hearer-honorific forms . the final endings used towards grandmothers and teachers were investigated . The results showed that the greater number of students used formal forms to their grandmothers and used informal forms to their teachers ‘ For the object-honorific forms. for instances of introducing oneself dependent on their father. majority of students were wrongfully using the honorific form of stating their father ' s names. Moreover. the students were not familiar with the honorific form of 'older brother' and many students were misusing the honorific forms of 'have your meal. ' Many students also misused 'told off by the teacher' rather than 'get scolded by the teacher’ and majority of students were not familiar of the word. 'disease' as being the honorific form of 'sickness.' However. the honorific vocabulary that is often used in daily lives such as residence , years of age and birthday were being rightfully used. Moreover. many students were rightfully expressing the instances of 'to go.' 'to corne.' 'to sleep' 'to go to bed,' 'to die’ and 'to be sick .' but for the instances of 'to ask.' 'to eat,’ 'to give' and 'to meet.' many students were not properly using the expressions of honorific forms 1n chapter Ⅳ, based on the prior contents of analysis. the instruction plans of honorific forms were groped to elevate the usage capabilities 01'
the Korean language amongst elementary school students. The content systems for the honorific forms within the elementary school curriculum were examined and the instructional plans were constructed for those contents. Moreover, instruction plans for honorific forms through writing filial diaries or creative writing. honorific form cross- world puzzle. completing conversation cards and c1 ass meetings were presented.
