국문 초록

이 논문은 한국어와 루마니아어의 신체관련 관용어를 비교 ․ 분석해 봄으로써 두 국가의 사회적, 문화적, 자연적 배경이 각 언어표현에 어 떻게 투영되었나를 간접적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 신체관련 어휘는 인간 자신의 주요 신체부위를 지칭하는 어휘라는 점에서 어느 언어를 막론하고 그 언어에서 가장 핵심이 되는 기초어휘 이다. 따라서 많은 신체관련 어휘들은 인간의 생활 속에 스며들어 다양 한 의미로 사용되고 있으며 관용어에도 많이 나타나고 있다. 비교연구에 앞서 선행연구자들이 규정한 관용어의 정의와 범주를 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 관용어의 정의와 범주를 설정해 보았으며, 비 유적 의미를 관용어의 협의의 의미구조로 규정하고, 이를 비교연구 대 상으로 하였다. 양국어 관용어의 비교를 통하여 인간의 의식과 인지에 대한 유사성 과 상이성을 고찰해 보고자 의미론적인 연구방법을 채택하였다. 이러 한 비교연구를 통하여 한국어와 루마니아어의 신체관련 어휘의 비유적 관용어 중에는 언어 보편성에 의해 부분적으로 공통점이 나타났지만, 역사 ․ 지리적 배경이나 사회 ․ 문화적인 관점에서 비교해 볼 때 연관성 보다는 상이성을 더 많이 나타났다. 양국의 민족은 서로 독립적인 민 족문화를 형성해 왔으며, 각기 다른 자연환경 ․ 생활양식 ․ 사회제도 등 의 영향으로 자신들에게 적합한 의식구조를 정립시키게 되었고, 이러 한 사회 ․ 문화 ․ 자연적인 상이성은 관용어에 투영되어, 사용되고 있다 는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This comparative study (Idiomatic Phrases) aims at highlighting several idiomatic commonalities that occur in both Romanian and Korean languages. The thesis is based on the premise that both languages evince similar characteristics in respect to some types of constructions despite their genetical and structural differences. The material analysed here was taken from the Korean and Romanian idiomatic dictionaries. Idioms that contain names of parts of the body represent the main target of this comparative study; moreover on the basis of the material extracted from the dictionary the present study tries to underline some structural differences determined especially by extra-linguistic factors such as: culture, society, history, the way nature is perceived etc. The concept of idiomatic phrase is defined in this study as a group of words characterized by constancy and consolidated over time through usage as a distinguished unit that outranks the word and has figurative meaning. Idioms are considered the result of the complex manifestations of human mentalities, history, culture and mores built over time in different circumstances. The second chapter of the study discusses the theoretical background related to the terminology employed. The third chapter aligns to Sextil Puscariu's ideas according to which the words used to describe parts of the body represent the most reliable etymological resource of a language. The phrases compared in the fourth part of the present study are grouped into comparative phrases which contain either an overt or a covert analogy. Each phrase is accompanied by a series of explanations that refer to the meaning, structure and also to the way in which it operates as a linguistic unit. For instance Korean language exhibits 22 idiomatic phrases which involve the word liver; Romanian has only 2 such idioms. The noun heart on the other hand evinces a different behaviour: in Korean this noun appears only 3 times in idiomatic phrases whereas in Romanian the number of occurrences exceeds 40. The analogy provides evidence for the following conclusion: in Korean fear is associated with the liver whereas in Romanian fear is associated with the heart, two of the most vital organs. The analysis and comparison of idiomatic phrases is without question a starting point for further more detailed investigations. One can say with certainty that in the current situation the study of idioms observe the rules of linguistic universality despite the numerous structural and semantic differences. Differences are only apparent because in fact every language, irrespective of its nature, has idiomatic expressions with an equivalent in other languages. In the literature many idiomatic parallels have been recorded between Romanian and Korean, two languages completely different genealogically. The comparative study of idioms in both Romanian and Korean once again highlight the thesis according to which language formation is both a differentiating and a unifying factor.
