현장연구 자료의 기록과 관리의 다양한 방법들

국문 초록

이 글에서는 현장연구의 기록과 관리 방법에 대해서 논의한다. 제시한 기록 및 관리방법 중 일부는 연구자가 실행연구 과정을 거쳐서 개발한 것들이다. 또한 동료 인류학자들 4명과의 5회에 걸친 집단적 심층면담과 10여 명의 질적 연구 실시 학자와의 간단한 비공식 면담을 통하여, 현장연구에서 기록이 왜 중요하며, 기록 유형과 기록 방법, 유의사항은 무엇인지에 대한 자료를 수집하고, 초고에 대한 검토를 받았다. 소개하는 기록방법은 서술형 현장노트 이외에 서술적 관찰 기록지 양식, 개요 양식, 비교표 양식 등 특수한 양식의 현장노트 기록 방식과 연구자와 현장구성원에 의한 현장일지, 체크리스트, 사진과 비디오 기록, 지도그리기, 현장구성원이 만드는 문서 등이다. 기록 자료의 관리에 대해서는 주제별 파일 만들기와 EXCEL을 활용한 자료 관리 등을 다룬다.

영문 초록

This study introduces diverse methods in recording and managing fieldwork data more effectively. The recording methods introduced in this study include writing field notes, expanding field notes, writing a field journal, making outlines, making check lists, drawing maps of informants' movements, collecting field journals of informants, etc. Data management methods introduced in this study includes using EXCEL program for all kinds of field data. This study also discusses what the novice researchers should be aware of in using these methods. In addition to participant observation of my classes of research methods I conducted a series of in-depth group interviews with four anthropologists on recording and managing fieldwork data. In the first two sessions, all researchers listed up freely what should be included in the teaching materials on this issue. In the remaining three sessions, I prepared a draft of the teaching material and other researchers gave their opinions and discussed freely about any relevant issues. One more research method used in this study is conducting informal interviews with 10 researchers who have all conducted field research. They gave their opinions about why recording is important in field research, how they are recording, and what the novice researchers should be aware of about recording and managing fieldwork data.
