교육비평의 성격과 그 인식론적 기반

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 Eisner가 제안한 교육비평의 성격과 인식론적 지위를 살펴보고, 인식론적 기반을 탐색하며, 그 과제를 검토하고자 하였다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 Eisner의 저서와 논문을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 밝혀진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육비평은 교육감식안과 비평쓰기로 구성되며, 일관성, 집단적 합의, 지시적적절성, 도구적 유용성 등의 충족 정도에 따라 진실성의 정도가 결정된다. 둘째, 교육비평의 인식론적 기반은 틀의존적 구성주의로서 인간유기체가 세계를 구성하는 특질과 전체적으로 상호작용하는 가운데서 감식안을 형성하고 형성된 개념을 비평의 언어를 통하여 외부로 표현하는 것이다. 셋째, 교육비평의 인식론은 인식의 자연적 기초를 강조하는 Dewey의 자연주의 경험이론이나 Merleau Ponty의 지각현상학에 더욱 천착해야 하는 과제를 안고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the epistemological background of educational criticism and to examine its problems. To archive this purpose, three research questions were asked: 1) What is the characteristics and the epistemological nature of educational criticism? 2) What is the epistemological background of the educational criticism? 3) What kinds of problem are there have to solve to improve the validity of educational criticism? The method of this study was to review and analyze the related literature. The main resources consisted in Eisner's books and articles on education and educational criticism. And the others' books and articles that argued on Eisner's educational criticism theory were analysed, too. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, it was identified that educational criticism consisted of educational connoisseurship and written criticism. And the validity of educational criticism was judged by the level of satisfying the criteria which were consisted of consistence, concensus, referential adequacy, and instrumental utility of the language of criticism. Second, educational criticism was based on the epistemology of framework-dependent constructivism. Educational connoisseurship was constructed through the transaction between human organism and environment and was presented to the public by the language of the criticism. Third, to keep the validity of the epistemological background of educational criticism from being caught in trap of the relativism, which is called perspectivism, Eisner's educational criticism should be based on the naturalistic epistemology of Dewey or Merleau Pont's phenomenology of perception.
