시각문화 연구로서 뮤지움 교육의 가능성

국문 초록

1990년대부터 존재감을 드러내기 시작한 시각문화 연구에 대한 연구와 논의는 오늘날 이론과 실천의 다양한 분야에서 목소리를 내고 있다. 많은 미술이론가, 문화연구가들이 지적한 대로 시각문화연구는 실제로 1990년대에 대학과 지식, 출판에 거대한 담론이 되어가고 있었다. 본 연구는 뮤지움 학습과 관련된 여러 문제들이 지금까지 어떻게 다루어져 왔으며, 이를 바탕으로 오늘날 그리고 앞으로 뮤지움과 교육에 대한 연구의 시각문화 연구로서 가능성을 고찰하였다. 뮤지움과 교육에 대한 연구동향 및 활동들을 살펴봄으로써 시각문화라는 틀 속에서 뮤지움과 뮤지움 교육의 역량을 짚어보고자 했다. 뮤지움 연구를 통하여 자기 반성적인 사고와 역사적, 물질적, 미학적 세부 사실에 대한 관심을 혼합한 다각적인 질문을 제시하는 것은 생산적인 결과를 산출할 수 있으며, 결국 역사와 이론, 전시기획과 실천들을 아우르는 뮤지움 환경과 관람객 사이의 인터랙티브한 소통을 이끌 것이다. 여기에 뮤지움 교육은 시각문화 연구의 대상으로서 수집된 자료들의 의미와 학제적인 성격에 의해 결정되고, 그 학제성이 종합되어 구체화 되어 질 것이다. 뮤지움 소장품, 전시, 전시기획, 관람객과의 조우, 해석, 미디어, 환경, 체험, 실천하는 방식이 서로 만나고 겹치는 하나의 수렴을 통해서 시각문화의 틀 속에서 뮤지움 학습은 구체화 되고, 실현될 수 있다고 본다.

영문 초록

The studies and debates of visual culture have long voiced in the field of theories and practices since 1990. Visual culture has been turning to the gigantic discourse all over academic fields. The purpose of this article is to investigate previous and current research trend of museum and learning, and to consider the possibilities of the museum and learning at the museum in terms of visual culture. It describes a few central aspects of how research has treated questions on learning in general, more specifically learning at museums. Questions regarding learning, education, and the usability and identity of the museums are also discussed. Research shows primarily that the visitor has become increasingly engaged in the museum process and in the interpretation of exhibitions and that the museums have a social responsibility to grant all groups in society access to the world of the museums. Therefore, the study of museum and museum learning also indicated that they may be of importance to the self-image of the individual, and where museums constitute an arena where people may both act and be an audience in a way that is typical for the contemporary society. Through the meeting with museum collection, exhibition, design, the visitor, interpretation, media in the museum environment, the learning in museums will be dealt with the area of visual culture.
