척수손상장애인들의 삶에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 척수손상장애인의 삶에 대한 현상학적 연구를 통해 이들이 겪는 어려움이 무엇인지를 파악하는 것으로 목적으로 하고 있다. 이중에서도 특히 사회복귀 이전단계에서 겪는 어려움의 본질을 현상학적 방법으로 접근하여, 그 어려움의 의미와 기본구조를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구결과 5명의 척수손상장애인으로부터 31가지의 주제와 8개의 주제모음을 발견하였다. 본 연구에서 발견한 척수손상장애인의 사회복귀이전단계에서의 어려움의 주제모음은 개인 범주에서는 심리적인 고통, 변화된 신체에 대한 관리의 어려움, 경제적인 문제의 3가지였으며, 관계 범주는 가족과의 관계, 관계의 변화의 2가지였다. 그리고 시설과 제도의 범주에서는 병원의 지원 부족, 병원외부시설의 부족, 사회의 벽이라는 3가지였다. 이러한 주제모음을 통하여, 본 연구는 척수손상장애인의 사회복귀이전단계에서의 어려움에 대하여 개인적·사회적 영역에 대한 통합적인 진술을 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 척수손상장애인에 대한 효과적인 사회복지개입을 위한 중요한 기초자료를 제공하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore life and experiences of persons with spinal cord injury, especially, difficulties which they have preparing social rehabilitation. The study was guided by Colaizzi's methods for understanding meanings and structure of the difficulties. 31 essential themes which characterize phenomenon were developed from 90 significant statements which reflect research participants' life. The themes were analyzed and reorganized to 8 theme cluster and 3 categories. The first category is difficulties on individual level of which theme clusters are psychological distress, suffering from physical management, and financial worries. The second category is difficulties on relationship level of which theme clusters are relationship with family members and changes of relationships. The third category is difficulties on institutional level of which theme clusters are inadequate systems of hospitals and rehabilitation centers, insufficient facilities, and lack of social support. The result of this study provided significant information for social work intervention in supporting social rehabilitation of persons with spinal cord injury.
