국문 초록

이 연구는 정신장애인이 지각하고 있는 스티그마에 영향을 미치는 요인을 회복모델의 관점에서 회복태도와 연관시켜 살펴보고자 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상자는 총 355명으로 DSM-Ⅳ에 의해 정신분열병, 분열정동장애, 조울증으로 진단된 만성정신장애인으로 부산·경남지역 정신병원, 사회복귀시설, 정신보건센터 등 20곳에서 조사가 이루어졌다. 스티그마에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 인구사회학적 특성, 질병관련요인, 회복태도, 임파워먼트, 사회적 지지 등이 포함되었고, 자료분석을 위해서 상관관계분석과 위계적 다중회귀분석이 사용되었다. 상관관계 분석 결과 스티그마는 회복태도, 임파워먼트, 가족, 사회적 지지와 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 위계적 회귀분석 결과 소득수준, 나이, 유병기간, 회복태도, 사회적 지지가 스티그마에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 영향요인 중에서도 가장 높게 영향을 미치는 것은 회복태도로 나타났는데 이것은 회복모델의 관점이 정신장애인의 스티그마 극복을 위한 개입에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 따라서 이 연구는 정신장애인의 스티그마와 회복태도와의 관계를 실증적으로 밝히고자 하였다는 점과, 사회복지실천 현장에서 정신장애인의 스티그마를 줄이기 위한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

This study purposed to examine factors affecting the perceived stigma of the mentally disabled related to recovery attitude from the viewpoint of the recovery model. The subjects of this study were 355 persons who were found through DSM-Ⅳ to have chronic mental disabilities such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder. The survey was conducted at 20 places including mental hospitals, social rehabilitation facilities and mental health centers in Busan and Gyeongsangnam do. Factors affecting the perceived stigma were the demographic characteristics of the mentally disabled, factors related to illness, recovery attitude, empowerment, social support, etc. Collected data were analyzed through correlation analysis and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. According to the results of correlation analysis, recovery attitude, empowerment, family support and social support were found to have a statistically significant effect on perceived stigma. According to the results of hierarchical regression analysis, economy states, age, duration of illness, recovery attitude and social support were found to have a statistically significant effect on perceived stigma. Among the influential factors, recovery attitude was most influential. This has significant implication of the decrease of stigma on recovery model. This study is meaningful in that the results can be used as basic materials for experimental research on the recovery attitude and stigma of the mentally disabled. Implication of the social work intervention for the decrease of perceived stigma were discussed.
