考古資料로 본 南漢江 上流地域의 三國 領域變遷

국문 초록

본고에서는 남한강 상류지역을 대상으로 국가단계로 인정되는 고구려, 백제, 신라의 정치적 영역(영토)을 추출하기 위한 고고학적인 틀을 구축하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 한반도 삼국에서는 대체로 비슷한 과정을 거쳐서 국가의 영역을 구축해 가는 모습을 볼 수 있다. 국가의 영역은 형성기, 확장기, 완성기를 거쳐 발전하고, 마지막 단계에 이르러서 비로소 영역국가로서의 면모를 갖추게 되는데, 그 시기는 대체로 신라가 세력을 확장하여 통일 이전의 최대 지배범위를 형성한 6세기 중엽 이후로 생각된다. 4~5세기대까지는 각 정치체의 영향력은 평면적으로 미치지 않고 거점적으로 지배하는 방식이었다. 남한강 상류지역은 신라가 진출하기 전에는 고구려세력이 자리잡았던 것으로 보이나, 그 상황은 고고학 자료로 뚜렷하게 남아 있지 않다. 현재 고고학자료를 통해 볼 때 6세기 중엽 이후 신라에 의한 영역화만을 뚜렷하게 알 수 있으나, 그 전 단계에 백제를 포함한 삼국이 각각 전략적 필요성에서 이 지역으로의 진출을 도모했었을 가능성이 있다. 삼국의 영역이 완성된 시점의 양상은 신라에 의한 拓境碑의 건립과 문헌사료에 나오는 ‘拓定封疆’ 기사에 분명하게 나타난다.

영문 초록

This paper has a purpose of building a archaeological framework to estimate territories of the three kingdoms, Koguryo, Paekche, Silla, which seems to be state, for the upper stream area of Namhan-river. It finds that the three kingdoms on the Korean peninsula built the own territory, as passing similar processes. The territory of state seems to develop passing as the forming period, the extension period and the complete period, and becomes territorial state on the last step. It is after the middle of 6th century when Silla extended influence and formed a maximum territory before the unification of the three kingdoms. Until 4th and 5th century, each political powers have ruled only basal area, not reaching all over the territory. At the upstream area of Namhan-river, it seems to have been in Koguryo's influence before Silla's advances, but that situation isn't left as an archaeological materials. As present archaeological view, it finds only Silla's movement clearly after middle of 6th century. But there is possibility to have been attempting to advance to this area for each strategic necessity of three kingdoms including Paekche in previous step. The aspect that territory of the three kingdoms were complete is conspicuously expressed in the rearing of a monument stone and the article of 'pioneering and decision territory' in the literature by Silla.
