일제강점기 조선지지의 성격에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문은 사례 연구와 민족 간 비교 연구를 통해 일제강점기에 발행된 단행본 조선지지의 성격을 고찰한 것이다. 조선지지를 저술하게 된 목적을 밝히고, 조선지지 속 계통지리의 주요 내용과 이에 녹아있는 지리개념 및 기술방법을 도출하며, 그리고 지역구분에 관해 연구하였다. 그 결과, 조선지지의 내용과 지리개념 및 기술방법, 지역구분 등 지지의 학문적인 요소에 있어서는 민족이 다르다는 것과 상관없이 서구 근대지지학의 전통을 이어 받고 있었으나, 저자들의 조선지지의 저술목적이나 일부 내용에 대한 기술방법에 있어서는 민족 간에 분명한 차이가 존재하였다. 이러한 차이는 일제의 조선 식민지 강점에서 파생된 것으로, 조선에 대해 두 민족이 서로 다른 목적을 가지고 지지를 기술하였기 때문이다.

영문 초록

This paper is mainly concerned with characteristics of the regional geography of Korea published during the Japanese rule. It explores what the regional geography of Korea was written for, extracts the essential contents from it, and draws a basic geographical concept and a regional geographical description methods used to describe the regional geography of Korea. And I studied the indicator of regional division in the literatures of the regional geography. Thus this made the inside of the regional geography of Korea as geographical content, geographical concept, the mothed of description, and the indicator of regional division influenced by the West. But the outside by the colonial occupation of Japanese imperialism causing the differentiated purposes of writing between the two nations(the Korean people and the Japanese). These were derived from a different interests of geography in the same place called Korea.
