  본 연구의 목적은「동화 듣고 다시 말해보기」 활동이 만 3세 유아의 이야기 구성능력 및 읽기 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 있다. 연구 대상은 만 3세 유아 42명(실험집단 22명, 비교집단 20명)으로, 실험집단은 8주간에 걸쳐 16권의 동화를 듣고 말해보기 활동에 참여하였으며, 비교집단은 동화 듣기 활동만 실시하였다. 연구는 사전 검사,「동화 듣고 다시 말해보기」 활동, 사후 검사의 순으로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과 실험집단 유아들의 이야기 구성 능력과 읽기 능력의 총점에 있어 비교집단에 비해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 났다.「동화 듣고 다시 말해보기」 활동을 진행하는 동안 실험집단 유아들은 그림을 보면서 이야기의 구조를 염두에 두고 말하였고, 책 읽는 억양과 책 언어를 사용하여 말하였으며, 책 내용의 앞과 뒷부분을 관계 지어 말하게 되었다. 본 연구의 결과 동화 듣고 말해보기 활동은 만 3세 유아의 이야기에 대한 자발적인 의미구성능력과 읽기 발달을 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the Effects of Story Retelling on three years young children"s story construction and reading development. Test results were analyzed using ANCOVA with a pretest serving as the covariate.
  Forty-two children aged 3-4 who were proved to have the same ability were selected and divided into an experimental group (22) and a comparison group (20). The experimental procedures were in the order of pre-test for Word Reading, Story Construction, Reading Development stage, Story Retelling as treatment, and post-test for Story Construction, Reading Development stage. 22 Children in experimental group performed the Story Retelling using stick dolls and picture materials after Story Listening. Utterance during the activities was tape-recorded, and classified by two raters.
  The results of the ANCOVA show a signifiant overall difference between the groups in story construction {F(1, 39)=85.197, p＜.001}. The results of the ANCOVA show a signifiant overall difference between the groups in reading development {F(1, 39)=12.854, p＜.01}.
  The findings suggest that visual literacy activities using story retelling improve three years young children"s story construction and reading development by encouraging them to carefully tell story schema and to recall story. These findings imply story telling activities help emergent reader make predictions about character" goals. action, and personal traits, which, help them to more deeply comprehend the story and find pleasure in reading.
