  The Zen Dharma of Dao-xin道信 was composed two parts, one is to present the truth that ahead must be enlightened in mind, that is to say ?all Buddha"s mind is best? of a well-chosen in 〈La?kavat?ra-Sutra〉, the other is to keep up the truth in mind as expedient practices for completion, that is to say ceaselessness and no-discretion"s sam?dhi(一行三昧) which is based on Sapya?atik? Prajn?p?mit? Sutra(〈文殊說般若經〉). Before arrive on the practice of transcendence of vipa?yan? as effortless practice, it is necessary to exert oneself to practice vipa?yan? so called expedient practices for completion. Accordingly in the Zen Dharma of Dao-xin道信 the two all together are expounded. Therefore this Zen Dharma is not mixed with other"s Zen Dharma or different Dharma. Because Yanagida-seijan柳田聖山 didn"t know the fact that expedient practices for completion and ultimate mind-only Dharma can be explained in one Dharma writings, and such preaching is fair and proper from the point of view in actual practice, he concluded that the ZenDharma of Dao-xin道信 is not the Dharma of Lanka-zen楞 伽禪, and on the basis of this induction he disapproved several actual facts.
  Yanagida-seijan inducted that although the so called Dongshan -Dharma gates東山法門 handing down from Dao-xin道信 to Hong -ren弘忍 was not genealogy of Lanka-zen, 〈Lanka-Buddha-renfa-zhi 楞伽佛人法志〉 and 〈Lanka- shizi-ji楞伽師資記〉 distorted this fact, and were written with the intention of forgery of which Dongshan-Dharma gates seems to be handing down of Lanka-zen by making additions to new distinctive feature. But there are no corroborative facts that could prove his opinion. His ignorance of zen doctrine made such wrong assertion. It is no exaggeration to say that his reasoning is interspersed with excessive conjecture and mistake. So his reasoning have many items that in a practical manner can not be agreed. This thesis pointed out those mistakes.
