정신지체 학생들의 성교육 현황 및 성행동: 교사와 부모간 인식비교

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 정신지체 학생들의 부모와 교사들을 대상으로 성교육 및 성행동 등에 대한 인식의 차이를 비교하고자 하였다. 전국의 정신지체 특수학교 11개의 교사 328명, 부모 367명의 설문자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 성교육은 가정에서보다 학교에서 더 많이, 더 체계적으로 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 성교육 방법은 두 집단 모두 자신의 경험에 의지하는 정도가 크고 전문교사에게 의뢰하거나 상담기관을 이용하는 경우는 드물었다. 성교육 내용은 두 집단 모두 신체구조나 2차 성징, 성폭력 문제에 초점을 맞추는 반면, 적절한 성행동이나 성역할 교육 등에 대한 교육은 적은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성교육 요구도 조사에서 교사들은 이성친구 사귀기에 대해 가장 많은 요구가 있다고 응답한 반면, 부모들은 성기에 대한 호기심이나 자위행위에 대한 요구가 가장 많다고 응답하였다. 셋째, 정신지체 학생들의 성지식 조사에서는 부모와 교사 모두 학생들이 몸 각 부분의 명칭과 기능, 임신 출산 등과 같은 신체적 구조와 기능에 대해서는 비교적 잘 알고 있지만, 성기위생이나 성건강, 성폭력에 대해서는 잘 모른다고 응답하였다. 넷째, 정신지체 학생들의 성행동에 대해서는 두 집단 모두 타인을 무분별하게 만지는 행위와 자위행위를 가장 문제행동으로 지적하였다. 특히 교사들은 공공장소의 자위행위를 지적한 반면에 부모들은 사적인 공간에서의 자위를 문제행동으로 지적하였다. 성폭력 가해와 피해행동 두 경우 모두 가장 많은 경험상대는 이성친구인 것으로 나타났고, 피해의 경우 두 번째로 가까운 주변어른에게서 일어나는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 정신지체 학생들을 위한 교사, 부모들의 성교육의 내용, 방법 및 방향, 시사점 등이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The present study tried to compare the differences on the attitudes about sexual education and sexual behaviors between mentally retarded students' teachers and parents. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 328 teachers and 367 parents of mentally retarded students. In results, first, sexual education for students had been conducted more often and more regularly at school than at home. Both teachers and parents had taught students mainly in depends on their own experiences. Second, teachers responded that students asked most often about making a boy/girl friend whereas parents responded that students asked most often about curiosity on sex organ or masturbation. Third, students knew more well about the name and functions of body organs, pregnance and delivery, but not so well about sexual hygiene and health, sexual violence. Forth, teachers and parents reported that students' maladopted habaviors at school and at home were touching others indiscreetly and masturbation. Finally, sexually assaulted and victimed behaviors were conducted in the relation with students' boy or girl friend, and secondly with well-known adults around the students.
