국문 초록

  이 연구는 CHC 인지요인에 의해 정신지체집단과 비정신지체집단의 읽기기능이 적절히 설명될 수 있는지 밝히기 위해 수행되었다. 연구 대상은 중학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 경도정신지체학생 60명과 이들과 정신연령이 동일한 일반초등학교 3학년 비정신지체학생 60명이며, 이들에게 WJ-Ⅲ COG 검사와 읽기 진단검사를 실시하여, 중다회귀분석 방법으로 인지 요인과 읽기기능의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 정신지체집단과 비정신지체집단의 읽기기능(입으로 읽기, 눈으로 읽기, 듣기 이해, 단어 파악)을 예언할 수 있는 인지요인은 각각 다른 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this research is to analyze that relationship between cognitive characteristics and reading skills of mentally retarded children in accordance with the CHC intelligence theory.   The research targeted 60 mild mentally retarded students in a middle school"s special class, as well as 60 normal 3rd-grade elementary school children with the same mental age to that of the mentally retarded children. To measure their cognitive ability, Woodcock-Johnson-Ⅲ Test of Cognitive Ability was conducted, and to measure their reading skills, reading diagnosis test was conducted. To determine if the CHC cognitive factors could predict reading skills, multiple regression analysis was conducted with CHC cognitive factors as independent variables and reading skills as dependent variables.   The conclusion is as follows:   The reading skills of mentally retarded children and normal children could be predicted by CHC cognitive factors. These conclusions indicate that there is a clear difference according to cognitive factors and reading skills between the mentally retarded group and the normal group. Also, they imply that since cognitive factors of each group that allow the prediction of reading skills are different from each other, it would not appropriate to apply the same reading intervention and strategies to mentally retarded children and normal children.
