영문 초록

This paper made a contrast between analytic and holistic scorings in an effort to evaluate the effects that both scorings have on the teaching and learning of EFL writing. It is argued that each scoring, which stems from distinct assumptions, has its own place in EFL writing classes. While analytic scoring would tend to sensitize students to correctness of language use, holistic scoring will likely lead them to focus on clarifying their ideas. In that light, holistic scoring appears to work in the advanced-level writing class where correctness is not considered the whole of writing. Also, this study addressed some of the possible disagreements between L1 scorers and L2 writers.
