영문 초록

"Im Keok-Chung Revolt", an uprising of the common people took place in Hwanghae Province from 1559(the 14th Year of King Myungchong Reign) to 1562(Myungchong 17th Year). Pyukcho, the pen name of Hong Myung-Hee, was influenced by an novel on 'chivalrous robbers' which he read in his boyhood and Russian novels. Pyukcho intending to write a novel of pure Chosun drew a genre painting of the people by borrowing customs of royal court and high officials, historical story and unofficial version of the historical tale. Therefore, he rests on the basis of 'Notwedigen Anachronismus' like the classic historical novels of the west. 『lm Geo-Chung』is belong to a pattern of realistic historical novel and representative historical novel of the colonial period. However, the study of『lm Geo-Chung』lie dormant owing to writer's activity in North Korea since 1948. I have no doubt of further study and presentation of the real value of『lm Geo-Chung』.
