국문 초록

본 연구는 .우리말 색이름 사전...한국의 전통색. 제1집의 고찰을 통하여 주변 환경의 아름다움을 생활색채로 드러내거나 심상을 생활 속에 체현해 온 전통문화를 확 인하고, 이를 토대로 초등학교 3～6학년을 대상으로 한 생활색채 교육방안을 모색하 려는 시도이다. 색채는 형태와 더불어 미술교과 중 매우 중시되어야 할 조형요소이다. 자연과 조형물의 특징을 발견하여 의사를 표현하거나 재료를 통한 작품의 제작과정 및 감상활동에 있어서도 색채는 사실적인 묘사 및 감수성의 표출에 매우 결정적인 부분을 차지한다. 연구목적은 학습자로 하여금 미술교과시간에서 일상생활에 이르기까지 친 숙한 색채환경에 접하게 하며, 생활색채를 통한 조형요소를 경험함으로써 전통미가 내 재된 자기표현의 매개체를 갖게 하려는 데에 있다.

영문 초록

The fine arts course guideline for elementary school pupils says, “The pupils shall be allowed to express colors according to the names inherently and traditionally attached to them without being bound to the standard nomenclature.” However, a survey result shows that most of the third to sixth graders do not realize how useful itis to be familiar with Color combination in practical use, including communication with others, except in the colors they are often in contact with. It appears that their expression of colors is limited to just about ten kinds (only diversified with prefixes such as light- or dark- as in dark brown) out of the twenty designated by the Education Ministry for fine arts course for elementary schoolers, despite the language's richness in expressing colors, such as bluish or greenish. Average adults have come to have an ability to express colors in a very delicate and diverse ways (such as Vandyke-brown or pitch-black) as a result of their various contacts with natural surroundings and life experiences. In contrast, today's youths appears to have very limited choices in expressing color names, maybe because they have far less opportunities to be exposed to natural surroundings than their preceding generations. Such a situation may have a serious impact on their social life, including communication. Not only that, colors are fundamental elements in realistic descriptions of objects. This study is comprised of the following: 1) features of two leading books on the nation's traditional colors, i.e. Korean Color Dictionary and 100 Selected Colors of Korea and comparison between them and KS A 0011 as revised in 2003,and suggestions of methods of standardization of traditional colors, 2) a look at cases of embodiment of aesthetic quality of everyday things and their educational utilization, and 3) suggestions of desirable ways for development of traditional colors. Thus, this study aims to help provide a wider understanding of traditional colors among Koreans, and a more systematic education about them. With a focus on the review of Collection-I of Korean Color Names Dictionary Traditional Colors of Korea, this study is designed to find ways to help third to sixth graders build their strength to express what they see in more colorful ways by being more exposed to diverse color vocabularies traditionally handed down among Korean people.
