영문 초록

Because Gujiga exists as an inserted poem of Garak founding myth in Garakgukgi, a historical book of Gaya, I think, it is necessary to inspect closely the part of the King, Suro's birth and coming down tale or enthronement tale for interpreting or analyzing newly from a different standpoint. This study aims to reconsider historically the formation course of Garak allied countries in the view of narratives, to clarify the symbolic meanings of 'turtle' and 'the head' in Gujiga, and finally to analogize the war epic characteristics of Gujiga setting up the diverse and step by step aspects in use of phrases analytical research. In the introduction, I studied and analyzed preceding researches synthetically as a pre-stage. And main arguments of each chapter in the body as follows: Chapter Ⅱ shows the forming and developing course of Garakguk in the historical side as well as the side of Korean literature diversely. The formation of Garak country which is not a simple myth is proved by places, remains or records of historic interest in this study. In the Chapter Ⅲ, I analyzed the epic structure of Garakgukgi in order to review the war epic characteristics of Gujiga. It also deals with how the tribe at that time in Gaya province changed to the early country, and it shows that Gujiga is not a simple Youngsingunga(the greeting songs for the lord) by means of 'the myth of God the son's adventism' and 'the oviparous myth' in the King, Suro's tale, but a product by the union of distinctive groups such as conquerors and natives. Therefore, the formation of Garakguk was achieved in the course of war between immigrants from the northern province, i.e., the conquerors and the natives in Gaya province. Chapter IV explains the war epic structure of Gujiga on the ground of analyses the epic structure of Garakgukgi. Moreover, I reconsider the symbolic characteristics of 'turtle' and 'the head' which were often treated in preceding researches. Gujiga is the conqueror's song which was made in those days of uniting course of other distinctive groups, not an incantation song, a labor song, or a greeting song for the lord. That is to say, the war epic characteristics of Gujiga are related to historical situations during Garakguk forming days. And Chapter V and VI examine the significance of Gujiga in the literary history, present our tasks from now on researching the songs of ancient times, and set the practical cooperating possibility between contiguous studies and Korean literature practically. In conclusion, the myth of Garakguk is converted into an actual view through preliminary inspections about Garakgukgi and Gujiga. Gujiga is the war epic which was made dUling the Garakguk forming war at the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Accordingly, it is to say that Gujiga is the song of soldiers as well, reflects the consciousness of the people and life styles at that time as the first epic in the history of Korean Literature.

Abstract
