인공지능 기반 맞춤형 학습이 농촌지역 학생들의 수학학습에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 코로나 19로 심화된 학습격차를 해소하고 학습자의 자기주도성을 강화하기 위한 대안으로 인공지능 기반 맞춤형 학습을 제안하고, 그 효과를 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. 특히 교육 인프라가 부족한 농촌지역에서도 인공지능 기술로 질 높은 공교육을 보장하기 위한 목적에서 시작되었다. 인공지능 활용 교수ㆍ학습모델과 데이터 기반 맞춤형 수업 원리를 적용하며, 한 학기 수학 정규 교과 시간과 방과후 교과보충 집중 프로그램 시간에 집중적으로 이루어졌고, 가정학습과도 연계하였다. 인공지능 기반 맞춤형 학습은 단원 시작 전 선수학습 개념 이해 정도를 확인하는 AI 진단평가와 단원 차시별 AI 기반 문제 추천 학습 그리고 단원 마무리 AI 평가 및 보충학습의 과정으로 진행되었고, 효과를 분석하기 위해 실험 적용 전 후 학업성취도와 학습태도 그리고 자기주도성 검사를 실시하였다.데이터 분석 결과, 인공지능 맞춤형 수학학습이 수학 학업성취도, 학습태도 그리고 자기주도학습 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 여전히 문제 풀이 위주의 파편화된 학습이라는 제한점을 지니고 있으므로 학습자의 지속적이고 통합적인 성장을 지원하기 위한 방향에서 인공지능 교육 실천방안을 모색해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to propose customized learning methods based on artificial intelligence as an option to bridge the learning gap caused by COVID-19 and strengthen the learners' self-learning methods, as well as verify their effectiveness. In particular, the study was conducted with the aim of ensuring high-quality public education with AI technology in rural areas, where educational infrastructure is insufficient. The AI-based customized learning assistance consisted of an AI diagnostic assessment to examine the level of understanding of the prerequisite concepts before starting a study unit, AI-based problem recommendations on learning by the level, and AI assessment and supplementary learning aid at the end of the unit. Before and after conducting of the study, the math academic achievement, math learning attitude, and math self-directed learning ability were tested to examine the effectiveness of the program.The results of the data analysis showed that AI-customized math learning had a positive effect on improving the math academic achievement, learning attitude, and self-directed learning ability. However, it is still limited as to fragmented learning based on problem solving, and it is necessary to explore the AI education practices which would support continuous and integrated growth of math learners.
