동궁과 월지 서편 지역의 대지조성층 재검토

국문 초록

동궁과 월지 유적은 통일신라시대에 만들어진 궁원지(674)와 궁궐(679) 유적으로, 월지 서편 A건물지와 인근의 발굴조사가 시행되고 결과가 보고되었다. A건물지 대지조성에 관한 기존의 견해는 A건물지 축조를 위해 7C 중후반 단기간에 실시되었다는 것이었다. 본 논문에서는 발굴자료의 검토를 기초로 대지조성이 단기간에 실시된 것이 아니라 시간의 간격과 단계를 가지고 이루어졌음을 논하였다. 그 근거로 북편 트렌치의 토층 양상과 퇴적 순서, 유적출토 유물, 방사성 탄소연대 측정 결과, 月池 이전 못인 東池의 존재를 제시하였다. 본고에서는 A건물지 축조 이전에 일대의 대지가 이미 조성되고 사용되었을 가능성에 대해 논하였으며, 그 시기는 유물을 통하여 5C 후엽으로 추정하였다. 5C 후엽에 존재하였던 대지조성을 선대 대지조성으로 명명하였고, 선대 대지조성층 가운데 보토시설의 기능은 방수시설임을 논하였다. 또한, 보토시설이 충분한 방수 능력을 갖춤을 검토하여, 보토시설이 東池의 호안으로 연못과 연접하는 경관을 추정하였다. 결론적으로 A 건물지 북편 트렌치의 조사 성과를 바탕으로 월지 서편 일대에 5C 후반경에 조성된 것으로 추정되는 선대 대지조성층의 존재를 새로이 파악할 수 있었다. 그리고, 보토시설의 기능과 함께 月池가 조성되기 이전에 東池가 현재의 A건물지 북편에 위치하는 경관을 추정 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Gyeongju Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond are royal historical sites built in Unified Silla period, 679 and 674. Recently, this site had excavated and reported on Building A in the western area of Wolji pond. The existing view regarding the site construction for Building A is that the site preparation was carried out in a short period of time in the mid to late 7th century for the construction of Building A. This paper presumes that the land development was not done in a short period of time, but was done at temporal intervals and stages based on review of excavation data. This paper suggests the reasonable evidences that the pattern and depositional sequence of the soil layer at the northern trench, unearthed relics, radiocarbon dating results, and the existence of East Pond(Dongji) before Wolji Pond. This article assumes that the site formation at western area was completed and used before the construction of Building A. The period is estimated to be the late 5th century through artifacts. It regards the previous site construction that existed in the late 5th century. The function of the vertical silt facility discussed as a waterproofing facility in the previous site construction. In addition, it assumed that the silt facility would exist adjacent to the pond as a revetment of the East Pond. In conclusion, based on the results of the investigation of the trench on the northern side of Building A, the existence of the previous site formation layers that estimated to had been created around the late 5th century in the western area of Wolji. And along with its function as a waterproof facility, the landscape was presented in which the East Pond had located to the north of the Building A site before the Wolji Pond construction.
