사회복지사의 상담에 대한 인식과 상담 활동의 실제

국문 초록

사회복지실천 현장의 다변화, 그리고 단순히 경제적인 원조만이 아닌 심리․정서적인 문제에 대한 개입 필요성이 증가하면서 사회복지사의 상담역할이 점점 더 중요해지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 사회복지사가 상담 활동을 어떻게 인식하고 있는지, 그리고 상담 활동의 실제는 어떠한지에 관해 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2022년 3월부터 4월까지 종합사회복지관, 노인복지관, 자활지원센터, 정신보건기관, 병원, 학교 등 다양한 실천 현장의 29명 사회복지사를 대상으로 6회에 걸쳐 포커스 그룹 면담(Focused Group Interview)을 실시하였다. 질적 내용분석 방법으로 녹취록과 현장노트를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어느 분야 또는 기관에서 일하든 사회복지사는 상담을 사회복지실천의 기본 활동으로 인식함. 둘째, 초기 욕구사정 단계 이후의 상담 활동은 담당 직무와 업무환경 등에 따라 크게 네 가지로 구분됨. 셋째, 상담과 전문(심층)상담을 구분하고 사회복지사의 상담을 전문(심층)상담과 비교하여 보는 경향이 있음. 넷째, 현장의 상담 요구 증가에 따라 상담역량 강화에 대해 고민함. 연구결과를 토대로 사회복지상담이란 사회복지사가 클라이언트와 함께 목적을 가지고 하는 의사소통으로서 사회복지실천 목적 달성에 필요한 실천기술이자 개입 방법의 하나라고 정의하였다. 그리고 사회복지사의 상담가 역할에 대한 인식 재정립, 사회복지사의 상담역량 강화를 위한 교육과정 개선, 그리고 개입 단계별 수행하는 상담에 대한 슈퍼비전 체계구축 등에 대해 제안하였다.

영문 초록

As social work practice sites are diversified and the need for intervention in psychological and emotional issues, not just economic aid, the role of counseling for social workers is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of this study was to explore how social workers perceive counseling activities and how they actually are doing counseling in their work. To this end, six focus group interviews were conducted with 29 social workers at various practice sites, including general social welfare centers, senior welfare centers, self-support institutions, mental health-related institutions, hospitals, and schools from March to April 2022. The results of the analysis using qualitative content analysis method were as follows: First, social workers recognize counseling is a basic activity to achieve the purpose of social work practice. Second, counseling activities after the needs assessment stage are divided into four types. Third, social work counseling tends to be compared with professional counseling. Finally, as the need for counseling increases in the social work field, it is necessary to strengthen the counseling capabilities of social workers. Based on the results of this study, a social work counseling was defined as communication with clients for the purpose and as being one of the practical skills and intervention methods. It also suggested re-establishing awareness of the role of counselors among social workers, strengthening counseling capabilities of social workers, and establishing a supervision system for counseling activities of social workers conducted during the intervention stage.
