부모화된 놀이치료자의 역전이 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

놀이치료자는 내담 아동에게 돌봄을 제공하며 최적의 발달을 위한 치료적 개입을 한다. 타인에게 돌봄을 제공하려는 놀이치료자의 특성은 그들의 원가족과의 관계 패턴에서 유래되었을 가능성이 있다. ‘부모화된 자녀’는 자신의 발달에 대한 욕구를 희생하면서 부모를 정서적으로 돌보는 역할을 담당했던 자녀를 일컫는 것으로 돌봄을 제공하려는 놀이치료자의 특성이 원가족 관계에서 어떻게 형성되었는지 설명하기에 적절하다. 부모화된 놀이치료자의 욕구와 어린 시절의 경험은 놀이치료를 하는 동안 자극되어 내담 아동과의 관계에서 비언어적, 퇴행적 방식으로 표현될 수 있기에 이들이 어떤 역전이를 경험하고 어떠한 방식으로 이를 다뤄가는지 살피는 것은 중요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 부모화된 경험을 지닌 두 명의 놀이치료자가 연구에 참여했고, 질적 연구 방법인 내러티브 탐구 방법을 통해 역전이와 역전이 경험의 의미에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 ‘반복강박이라는 굴레 속 치료자’, ‘잃어버린 파라다이스 꿈꾸기’, ‘감정의 소화를 도와주는 모성적 담아주기’이다. 연구 참여자들은 역전이 경험을 통해 어린 시절 미해결된 내적 갈등을 재경험했고, 교육 분석과 수퍼비전을 통해 이를 다뤄가면서 경험의 새로운 의미를 찾게 되었다. 부모화된 놀이치료자의 역전이 경험은 자신을 더 이해하고 수용하면서 내담 아동과 함께 성장하는 기회의 장이 되었다.

영문 초록

Play therapists offer care to children in their practice and utilize therapeutic interventions to promote optimal development. It is possible that the inclination of play therapists to provide care may stem from their family-of-origin relationship patterns. The term “Parentified child” describes a child who has assumed the role of emotional caregiver for their parents at the cost of their own development. This term aptly characterizes how a play therapist’s caregiving tendencies are shaped by the dynamics of their primary family relationships. As play therapists who have experienced parentalization, it is crucial to examine their potential countertransference and how they manage it, as their own needs and childhood experiences can be triggered and manifested in non-verbal and regressive manners in their professional practice. This research employed a qualitative approach of Narrative Inquiry, involving two play therapists who had parentitied experiences, to investigate their countertransference and the significance of their encounters with clients. The study’s results revealed three themes: “Therapist in the restriction of Repetition Compulsion,” “The dream of a lost paradise” and “The maternal instinct that contains the emotional digestion.” Participants encountered countertransference experiences that caused them to relive unresolved internal conflicts from their past. The researchers found that educational analysis and supervision helped participants process their experiences and discover new meaning. For the play therapists who specialize in working with parents, countertransference experiences proved to be valuable opportunities to enhance their comprehension and acceptance of both themselves and their clients.
