국내 작업치료사들의 근거중심 작업치료에 대한 인식도 조사

국문 초록

목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 국내 작업치료사들의 근거중심 작업치료(Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy: EBOT)에 대한 인식도를 조사하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 조사연구를 위해 자기기입식 설문지를 사용하였다. 2006년 3월부터 6월까지 보수교육과 이메일을 통해 작업치료사들에게 배부된 208부의 설문지 중 회수된 116부(56%)를 기술통계와 카이제곱 검정을 통해 분석하였다. 결과 : 치료사들 대부분은 EBOT가 작업치료에서 중요하고(84%), 임상에서 과학적인 근거를 세우는데 도움이 될 것(85%)이라고 응답 하였다. 그러나 응답자의 6%(7명)만이 전문학술지에 발표된 연구 근거를 적극적으로 임상에서 적용한다고 하였고, 자주 임상 연구를 기초로 치료를 결정하는 치료사도 11%(13명)에 불과하였다. EBOT 적용을 위한 치료사들의 기초 능력을 묻는 항목에서는 치료사의 12%만이 논문 검색 전 임상문제에 대한 질문을 할 수 있다고 하였고, 발표된 연구에 대한 비평(17%)과 자신의 치료에 대한 객관적 평가(28%)가 치료사들에게 어려운 점으로 나타났으며, 임상경력과 최종학력에 따라 EBOT에 대한 인식도에 차이가 있었다. 그러나 67%의 치료사들은 새로운 근거를 기준으로 자신의 치료를 변화시킬 수 있다고 하였고, 교육의 기회가 된다면 참석하겠다는 치료사들이 81%를 차지하여, 앞으로의 EBOT의 임상 적용에 대한 변화 가능성을 제시하였다. 결론 : 작업치료사가 보다 경쟁력 있는 전문가가 되고 작업치료서비스의 질적인 향상을 도모하기 위해서는 학술논문을 이해할 수 있는 연구 방법론적 지식에 대한 교육을 필수적으로 작업치료 교과과정에 포함시키고, 보수교육이나 학회, 세미나 등을 통하여 근거중심 작업치료에 대해 명확히 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공하여야 하며, 이의 적용방법에 대한 교육이 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of Korean occupational therapists on Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy(EBOT). Methods : A self-administering written questionnaire was employed for this survey research. The questionnaire was distributed to 208 Korean occupational therapists who attended at continuing education workshops and responded through E-mail between March and June in 2006. One hundred sixteen responses were returned for quantitative analysis of descriptive statistics and chi-square cross-tabulations. Results : Majority(84%) of the respondents reported that EBOT was important for occupational therapy and 85% expressed that EBOT would help OT practice. Only 6% of the therapists answered that they actively incorporate research evidence into practice and 11% of the therapists were applying research evidence to their clinical decision making. On the questions of basic skills for EBOT, 12% felt confident that they could generate clinical questions before searching database and a little number of therapists felt confident that they have critical appraisal skills(17%) and objective self-evaluation skills of their own practice(28%). Statistically significant associations were found on the perception of EBOT based on academic degrees and clinical experiences. However, 67% felt confident that they could change their practice in response to new evidence and 81% of respondents were willing to participate in EBOT workshop indicating good potential to adopt EBOT to clinical practice. Conclusion : Based on the results of the survey, it could be inferred that the majority of Korean occupational therapists felt that EBOT was important in improving the quality of occupational therapy services but they needed to enhance skills and knowledge of EBOT. Therefore, it would be important to incorporate EBOT into OT curriculum and provide continuing education on EBOT to ensure the quality of occupational therapy services.
