푸른유치원 만 5세 유아의 국제교류에 나타난 의사소통의 내용과 의미 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 만 5세 유아의 국제교류에서 나타난 의사소통의 영역별 내용과 그 의미를 탐색하여 관련연구의 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 한국의 만 5세 두 반유아와 담임교사 2인, 푸에르토리코, 일본, 중국, 아프리카, 태국과 1년 간 국제교류를 주고 받은 내용을 질적 사례연구로 탐구하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 국제교류에 나타난 의사소통의 내용은 ‘듣기: 친구에게 귀 기울이기, 다름을 이해하기’, ‘말하기: 서로를 배려하는 말하기’, ‘읽기: 기다렸던 읽기’, ‘쓰기: 다양한 표상적 놀이’로 나타났다. 둘째, 국제교류에 나타난 의사소통의 의미는 ‘귀 기울임을 통한 다문화 언어 이해’, ‘의사소통의 주체자로서의 유아’, ‘경험이 역량으로: 세계와 관계 맺기’로 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 장기간의 국제교류에서도 유아들이 주체가 되어 다양한 형태의 의사소통이 충분히 이루어질 수 있음을 보여준 점, 이러한 경험을 통해 문화간 민감성, 문화적 인식을 아우르는 문화적 역량이 향상될 수 있음을 제시한 점이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to research the content and meaning of communication that exist in the intercultural exchange program with 5-year-old children. To do so, intercultural exchange content among children from Puerto Rico, Japan, China, Africa, and Thailand were reviewed for a year as a part of a qualitative case study with two classes of children and two homeroom teachers. The study presented the following results. First, the communication content that existed in the intercultural exchanges were “listening: listening to friends” “saying, understanding differences,” “speaking: speaking words with consideration,” “reading: reading after waiting,” and “writing: various representation playing.” Second, the meaning of communication that existed in the intercultural exchanges were “understanding of multicultural languages by listening,” “children as the subjects of communication,” and “with experiences: making relationships in the world.” The implications of this study showed that sufficient communication with multiple forms should be offered as the subjects in the intercultural exchanges and the childrens’ emotions, cultural recognition, cultural competency should be improved through these experiences.
