국문 초록

골격적인 부조화가 있는 환자에서 악교정 수술을 계획했을 때 보통 술전교정, 수술, 술후교정의 3단계로 진행된다. 치열 보상을 수술 전 교정치료를 통해 탈보상하는 과정은 보통 1~2년 정도의 시간이 걸린다. 이 기간 동안 환자의 심미 및 저작능력은 악화되고, 생리적인 움직임에 역행하는 방향으로 교정치료가 이루어진다.1 본 증례에서는 상악 소구치의 발치를 동반한 이전의 절충치료 경험이 있는 환자에서, 성장 완료 후 하악의 anterior segmental osteotomy(ASO)를 동반한 악교정 수술 시행 후 교정치료를 진행하여 조기에 안모를 개선하고 치료기간을 단축할 수 있었기에 이를 소개하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Conventional orthognathic surgery for patients with skeletal deformity is comprised of three steps: presurgical orthodontic treatment, orthognathic surgery, and postsurgical orthodontic treatment. Many previous studies reported the duration of presurgical orthodontic treatment and it takes appoximately 1~2 years. During this period, the patient's esthetics and functional occlusion deteriorates because of dental decompensation.1 The present report describes a skeletal Class II patient with previous orthodontic treatment treated by surgery-first orthodontic treatment with mandibular anterior segmental osteotomy.
