국문 초록

본 연구는 공공도서관의 평생교육 프로그램 활성화 방안을 제시하여, 지역주민이 지속적으로 자기주도학습을 할 수 있는 기반을 마련하고, 사회적 변화에 적극적으로 대처하는 지역사회 평생교육기관으로서 역할을 강화시키는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구결과, 첫째, 공공도서관의 평생교육 담당자를 위한 재교육 및 담당자 간 협력구축이 필요하다. 둘째, 유능한 강사확보를 위해 강사은행제도를 마련하여, 활발한 평생교육 프로그램의 개발로 이어질 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 지역 사회 내 타 기관 간의 협력 체계 구축이 필요하다. 넷째, 문화소외계층을 위한 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 미래의 공공도서관은 지역사회의 주민들이 쉽게 이용할 수 있도록 보완, 개선하고, 다양한 이유로 이용하지 못하는 잠재적 이용자들에게도 도서관과 쉽게 친해질 수 있도록 서비스 하여, 모든 지역 주민의 자아실현의 가능성을 실현시키고, 배움력을 길러줄 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 아울러, 공공도서관이 지역특성에 부합하는 서비스 개발 및 기능 확대에 관한 지속적인 관심과 연구표본의 규모를 확대한 후속 연구가 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study proposes various ways to foster LE programs in public libraries, which would provide supports for community residents’ self-directed learning, and aims to promote public libraries to a community LE institution that helps their members actively adapt to the societal change. The present study set the following research questions to achieve the goal. The results, First, re-training of staff involved in LE programs and collaboration among the staff are needed. Second, an instructor database system is required to obtain qualified instructors, which would support active and efficient development of LE programs. Third, systematic cooperation across different institutions within the community is needed. Fourth, programs designed and developed for culturally underprivileged individuals are demanded. Future public libraries should be more accessible to the community residents and afford convenient service to potential users who do not use the library for various reasons. This will help all the community members achieve their self-realization and build learning skills. Lastly, a continuing interest in the development of library service and the expansion of its functions designed to meet the regional characteristics is required in addition to follow-up research using a larger sample size.
