국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 가다머의 미학이 근대 미학을 어떻게 극복하였는지를 살펴보고, 예술작품의 존재론을 탐색함으로써 표현으로서의 예술작품과 예술작품을 통하여 표현된 진리(존재) 사이의 관련이 주는 교육적 시사를 밝히는 데에 있다. 가다머는 칸트 미학으로 대표되는 근대 미학이 미학의 주관화와 자율화를 가져왔다고 보고, 칸트 미학을 재구성함으로써 근대 미학을 극복하려고 한다. 그는 표현으로서의 예술작품이 창작자 주관의 외재화라거나 실재의 모상과 같은 존재의 감소가 아니라는 점을 보여주기 위하여 예술작품의 존재론에 주목한다. 예술작품은 감상자의 관심을 사로잡고 그의 존재를 변화시킨다. 예술작품이 드러내는 세계는 감상자가 이전까지는 발견하지 못했던, 지금까지는 드러나지 않았던 새로운 세계이다. 예술작품은 감상자에게 말을 걸어오며, 예술작품과의 대화는 존재에 관한 관심을 불러일으킨다. 인간은 예술작품의 관조를 통하여 자신이 살아가는 세계는 어떤 세계인가, 그리고 인간이라는 존재는 과연 어떤 존재인가를 깨닫는다. 미학의 문제를 인간의 존재 변화와 관련지어 설명하려고 하는 가다머의 문제의식은 교육적 관심으로서 주목의 대상이 된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine how Gadamer's aesthetics overcomes the limitations of the modern aesthetics and to explore the ontology of the work of art with the view of revealing educational implications of the relationship between the work of art as an expression and the truth (i.e., being) expressed through the work of art. Arguing that the modern aesthetics represented by Kantian aesthetics has brought about subjectivization and autonomy of aesthetics, Gadamer tries to overcome the modern aesthetics by reconstructing Kantian aesthetics. His ontology of the work of art shows that the work of art as an expression is not to be seen as the externalization of the subjectivity of the creator or the diminution of being as in a copy of reality. A work of art engages the viewer's attention and transforms his being. The world revealed by the work of art is a new world that the viewer has not yet seen before. The work of art speaks to the viewer, and conversations with it arouse her interest in being. The experience of art helps her realize what kind of world she lives in and what a human being really is. Central to Gadamer's aesthetics is the matter of transformation of a human being, and its rich implications for education need to be explored further.
