蒼石 李埈 한시의 창작 배경과 실제 -한시의 기능과 일상성을 중심으로-

국문 초록

16세기 말에서 17세기로 넘어가던 조선의 문단은 기존의 틀을 유지하려는 힘과 다양성으로 나아가려는 반동의 힘이 작용 반작용을 거치며 변화를 거듭하고 있었다. 도본문말의 성리학적 문학관이 팽배하던 시기에 문장의 가치를 상대적으로 긍정했던 이들이 나타나 도와 문의 관계를 여전히 중시하면서도 점차 문학의 독자성을 인정하는 방향으로 나아가기 시작했기 때문이었다. 蒼石 李埈(1560~1635)은 이러한 시기를 살았던 인물이다. 이준은 학파적으로는 서애 유성룡의 문인으로 퇴계-서애 학맥을 계승했고 지역적으로는 경상도 상주 출신으로 영남인에 해당했으며 당파적으로는 남인에 속했다. 그러나 지속적인 관직 생활로 인해 서울 출신의 문인들과 폭넓게 교류하면서 그들과 시문을 주고받는 등 문학적 영역의 차원에서 일정 부분 영향 관계를 형성할 수밖에 없었다. 이러한 사실들에 입각해 본고는 이준의 문예 인식과 실천이 일치하지 않는다는 사실을 우선적으로 주목한 것이다. 그리고 이러한 결과가 어떤 배경 속에서 어떤 양상으로 어떻게 만들어진 것인지 살펴보려 한 것이다. 이준은 근본적으로 ‘도본문말’의 관점을 고수했지만 한시 창작에 임해서는 한시 자체가 가지는 기능을 긍정적으로 바라보며 多作으로 나아갔다. 또한 풍류와 흥취가 주를 이루는 詩會를 적극적으로 주도하고 또 참여했다. 이준의 이러한 행보 때문에 정경세는 이에 대한 우려와 불편한 마음을 드러내며 충고를 건네기도 했다. 살펴본 바와 같이 이준은 문예 인식에 있어 도학자의 입장을 견지하면서도 한시 창작에 있어서만큼은 유연하고 확장된 인식을 보여주었다. 그에게 한시는 위로의 수단인 동시에 교제의 수단이었다. 내면의 불평한 기운을 토로할 수 있는 통로였으며, 어떤 구애도 없이 동료 및 벗들과 교류할 수 있는 매개물이었고, 함께 모여 시름을 잊고 즐거움을 나눌 수 있도록 화합의 장을 만들어주는 근본적 요소였던 것이다. 도학자로서 도와 문의 관계를 끊임없이 의식했지만, 이준은 그의 저술 곳곳에서 한시의 기능과 필요성을 은연중에 드러냈으며 동시에 이러한 생각이 실제 한시 창작과도 직접적으로 연결된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The Joseon Dynasty's literary circle from the late 16th century to the 17th century was constantly changed through action and reaction of the power to try to maintain the existing framework and the reactionary power to try to make progress toward diversity. It's because the people who relatively affirmed the value of sentences appeared at the period when Tobonmunmal's Neo-confucian literary view prevailed, still regarded the relationship between the Way and refined writing as important, and gradually began to move in a direction of admitting literary originality. Changseok Lee, Jun (1560~1635) lived at this time. For Lee, Jun's school, he inherited Teogye-Seoae's academic genealogy as a student of Seoae Ryu, Seong-ryong. Geographically, he was from Sangju, Gyeongsang-do and was applicable to Yeongnam men. For his party, he belonged to Southerners. However, he could not help forming a certain influence relationship with literati from Seoul on a level of the literary area as he made a wide exchange with them due to his continuous official life. Based on these facts, this paper took preferential note of the fact that Lee, Jun's awareness of literature does not accord with his practice and tried to examine how this result was produced in what background and aspect. Basically, Lee, Jun adhered to a viewpoint of 'Tobonmunmal'. However, he looked at Chinese poems themselves in a positive way when creating them and wrote prolifically (多作). And he actively led and participated in poetry gatherings (詩會) dominated by elegance and spice. Jeong, Gyeongse gave him advices raising concerns about his move like this and giving him a piece of his mind. As examined above, Lee, Jun developed moralists' attitude and showed flexible and extended perception in the creation of Chinese poems. The Chinese poems were a means of comfort and at the same time society. They were a channel to be able to express his energy of gripes inside, a medium to be able to make an exchange with his colleagues and friends without any restriction, and a fundamental component that creates the event that brought harmony to them to make them come together, forget their troubles, and share their joy. Lee, Jun was constantly conscious of the relationship between the Way and refined writing as the moralist. However, without realizing it he let Chinese poems' functions and necessity in all his writings. And at the same time, it could be found that this idea is actually and directly connected to the creation of Chinese poems.
