국문 초록

목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라에 시범 도입된 휴머니튜드 실천으로 나타난 중증치매노인과 돌봄종사자의 변화를 탐색하고자 하는 것이다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 휴머니튜드 실천으로 나타난 중증치매노인과 돌봄종사자의 경험을 심도 있게 이해하고자 질적 사례연구로 진행하였다. 연구참여자는 휴머니튜드 트레이너(레벨1) 교육과정을 수료하고 돌봄 현장에서 휴머니튜드를 실천한 돌봄종사자 4명을 선정하였고 3회기의 심층 면담을 수행하였다. 연구결과 : 돌봄종사자가 중증치매노인에게 실천한 휴머니튜드 경험을 분석한 결과 총 25개의 의미단위, 그리고 6개의 하위범주와 2개의 핵심주제로 구성되었다. 핵심주제는 ‘삶의 질이 향상된 중증치매노인의 변화’와 ‘한 사람으로 존중하게 된 돌봄종사자의 변화’가 탐색되었다. 돌봄종사자들이 처음부터 휴머니튜드를 받아들이며 실천하는 일은 쉽지 않았고 여러 가지 시행착오를 겪어야만 했다. 또한, 업무에 가중되는 부담도 있었지만 오로지 중중치매노인에게 도움이 되고 싶다는 한결같은 마음으로 인내하며 노력한 결과였다. 결론 : 본 연구로 휴머니튜드 실천은 중증치매노인과 돌봄종사자 모두에게 긍정적인 변화가 탐색되었다. 이는 휴머니튜드의 ‘4가지 기법’과 ‘SSHCP 5단계’를 몸에 익힌 연구참여자들이 치매노인을 존중하고 배려하는 마음으로 돌봄을 실천하였기 때문이다. 이에 본 연구자는 고령화와 치매환자의 증가로 고민하는 우리 사회에 치매 정책이나 의료적 처치가 아닌 휴머니튜드 돌봄만으로도 긍정적 변화가 가능하다는 사실을 알리고자 한다. 더불어 치매노인을 존중하는 성숙한 돌봄문화를 조성하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Objective : T he purpose of this study is to explore the changes of the elderly with severe dementia and caregivers shown through the practice of humanitude that has been introduced on a trial basis in Korea. Methods : T his has been carried out as a qualitative case study to understand what the elderly with severe dementia and caregivers experience through the practice of humanitude profoundly. The participants selected in the study are four caregivers who have completed the Humanitude Trainer (Level 1) course and practiced humanitude in the field of caregiving, and they were interviewed with three sessions. Results : A s a result of analyzing the experiences of humanitude practiced by the caregivers on the elderly with severe dementia, this author has come up with total 25 meaning units, 6 subcategories, and 2 core categories. The core categories are ‘change in the elderly with severe dementia through the improved quality of life’ and ‘change in caregivers who have come to respect them as a person’ were explored. It was not easy for the caregivers to accept and practice humanitude from the beginning, and they had to go through trials and errors. Also, there was an increased burden on work, but they tried patiently with a constant will to be a help to the elderly with severe dementia. Conclusion : T his study was explored that the practice of humanitude brings positive changes to both the elderly with severe dementia and caregivers. This is because the research participants who had acquired ‘4 techniques’ and ‘the 5 steps of SSHCP’ for humanitude practiced their caregiving while being respectful for and considerate of the elderly with dementia. Accordingly, this researcher intends to inform our society that is suffering from aging and the increase of dementia patients that not with dementia policies or medical treatments but solely with humanitude caregiving, we can bring positive changes. Moreover, this author intends to create mature care culture through which the elderly with dementia can be respected.
