학습전략으로서 인출연습의 효과 검증을 위한 단어쌍 개발

국문 초록

본 연구는 학습전략 중의 하나인 인출연습의 효과를 검증하기 위해 우리나라 학습자에게 활용 가능한 단어쌍을 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서의 단어쌍 개발은 Nelson과 Dunlosky(1994)의 연구 절차와 방법을 따랐다. 개발한 단어쌍은 ‘아이마라어-한국어’쌍으로 총 100개이다. 선정한 단어쌍의 적절성 검토에는 총 200명의 대학생이 참여하였으며, 학습-시험을 1세트로 총 3회 실시하였다. 그 결과, 본 연구에서 선정한 ‘아이마라어-한국어’쌍 각각은 학습회기의 제공에 따라 세 번의 시험회기 모두에서 이전 시험회기보다 회상율이 향상되었다. 이와 같은 ‘아이마라어-한국어’쌍의 시험 간 회상 향상은 아이마라어 단어의 한국어 유사성과 음절수, 한국어 단어의 발생빈도와 음절수와는 통계적으로 유의미한 상관이 없었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 개발한 100개의 ‘아이마라어-한국어’쌍은 선행연구에서 제시한 기준을 충족하고 있다는 점과 언어내적 특성이 아닌 재학습으로 인해 회상향상이 나타난다는 점에서 인출연습의 효과를 검증하는데 활용가능한 단어쌍으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to develop word pairs for verifying the effectiveness of retrieval practice as a learning strategy for Korean students. The procedures, method and selection norms of words were based on the prior research of Nelson and Dunlosky(1994). The developed word pairs were 100 word pairs in AymaraKorean. A total of 200 college students alternately participated in three study-test trials to prove the appropriateness of the developed word pairs. As a result, the recall score for each word pair developed in this study gradually improved in three study-test trials. Correlation analysis was computed to determine whether this improvement was due to the learning rather than the potential effects that various attributes may have on learning. By attributes, this study means three factors such as frequency of occurrence in Korean words, word likeness for each Aymara word, and the number of syllables in Korean and Aymara words. Upon computation, there were no statistically significant correlations between three factors and the recall score respectively on the first study-test trial. According to the prior study, there were two criteria: (1) there must be substantial improvements in recall of the word pairs occurred across study-test trials and (2) those improvements must be due to learning. Therefore, the word pairs developed in this study seem suitable both for investigations of the effect of acquisition variables and for most of the other goals that are satisfied by laboratory paired-associate items.
