저출산․고령화 시대의 중등학교 죽음교육 현황과 과제

국문 초록

본 연구는 저출산․고령화사회 문제에 대한 교육적 개입의 필요성을 적극 인식하여 학교교육에서의 실천방안을 참구하였다. 저출산과 고령화는 모두 생명과 깊은 연관이 있는 현상이다. 그리고 생명은 죽음과 깊은 연관이 있다. 그렇다면 저출산과 고령화 시대의 청소년 대상의 죽음교육이 국가적 위기 상황을 극복할 수 있는 한 가지 대안이 될 수 있을 것이다. 죽음교육이란 죽음의 의미를 평소에 미리 생각해 보고, 보다 의미 있게 살도록 돕는 교육이다. 아직은 죽음에 대해 직접적으로 접할 기회가 적은 청소년기에는 생로병사와 상실, 슬픔 등에 대해 배우고 토론하면서삶과 죽음에 대한 다양한 가치관을 형성하도록 교육해야 한다. 특히 죽음교육이 적용될 수 있는 종교교육이 이루어지는 불교계 종립학교의 경우를 통해 보편적 현상을 조망하고, 새로운 해결방안을 사고할 수 있는 실마리를 찾아보았다. 더불어 제도적 차원에서 청소년 죽음교육은 국가교육과정을 바탕으로 살펴보았다. 또한, 중등학교 죽음교육의 현황은 ‘정규 교과’ 시간과 ‘교과 외’ 시간의 형태를 중심으로 탐색할 것이다. 현황 진단을 통해 앞으로의 중등학교 죽음교육이 저출산․고령화사회의 대안이 될 수 있는 교육이 되기 위한 과제를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 죽음교육의 교과교육 편제가 그것이며, 둘째 자유학기제 활용 등을 통한 비교과교육으로서의 죽음 교육이 그것이다.

영문 초록

This study considered the necessity of educational intervention on the issue of the low birth rate and aging society and considered practical measures in school education. Low birth rate and aging problems are both closely related to life. And life is deeply related to death. If so, death education for adolescents in the era of low birth rate and aging may be one alternative to overcome the national crisis. Death education is that helps people think about the meaning of death in advance and help them live more meaningfully. In adolescence, when there is still less opportunity for direct contact with death, it is necessary to educate them to learn about and discuss lifelong soldiers, loss, and sorrow to form various values for life and death. In particular, through the case of Buddhist schools, where religious education to which death education can be applied, we looked at the common phenomena and looked for clues to think about new solutions. In addition, at the institutional level, youth death education was examined based on the national curriculum. In addition, the status of secondary school death education will be explored mainly in the form of regular subjects and out of the subject. Through the diagnosis of the current situation, the following tasks were presented to make education for secondary school death education an alternative to the low birth rate and aging society. Firstly, it is the organization of subject education in death education. secondly, death education as comparative science education through the use of the free semester system.
