국문 초록

본 연구는 유아의 놀 권리에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식과 이해를 심층적으로 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 서울과 경기 지역에 근무하는 유치원 교사 10명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 진행하였으며, 수집된 자료는 반복적 비교분석법을 통하여 귀납적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사들은 유아의 놀 권리에 대해 유아가 갖는 권리 중 가장 중요 하며, 다른 권리들과 연관되어 있는 것으로, 유아의 선택과 결정이 존중받는 것이라고 이해 하고 있었다. 둘째, 교사들은 놀 권리의 권리주체자는 유아이고, 의무보유자는 교사, 부모, 국가라고 인식하고 있었으며, 유아의 놀 권리 보장을 위해 의무보유자 모두의 역할 이행이 중요하다고 보았다. 셋째, 교사들은 유아의 놀 권리 보장을 위해 놀이 시간, 물리적 환경, 놀이를 지지하는 분위기, 인적 환경 측면의 요건들이 충족되어야 한다고 강조하였다. 이러 한 결과들은 유아의 놀 권리 보장을 위해 다각도의 노력이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore kindergarten teachers’ perceptions and understandings of young children’s right to play in depth. 10 teachers working at kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeonggi area participated in in-depth interviews for this study, and the generated data were analyzed inductively through the constant comparative method. The results of this study were as follows. First, the teachers thought that young children’s right to play was the most important right for young children, linked to other rights held by the children, and was based on the respect for their choice and decision. Second, the teachers recognized young children as the right holders of their right to play, regarded teachers, parents, and the state as the duty holders for young children’s right to play, and highlighted that it is significant for all the duty holders to fulfill their roles to ensure the children’s right to play. Third, the teachers emphasized that various requirements in terms of play time, physical environment, play-promoting atmosphere, and human environment should be met to guarantee young children’s right to play. These results suggest that multi-faceted efforts are needed to ensure young children’s right to play.
