국문 초록

본 연구는 유치원 통합학급의 놀이 공간 구성 과정과 그 속에서 나타나는 의미를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 질적 연구 방법을 토대로 D시에 위치한 일반학급 2학 급, 특수학급 1학급의 3학급 병설유치원의 만 3, 4, 5세 유아 14명을 연구참여자로 하여 2020년 6월부터 12월까지 놀이 공간 활용 과정과 변화를 살펴보았다. 먼저, 유치원 통합학 급의 놀이 공간 구성 과정을 살펴본 결과, 유아들은 교실 안에 형성된 영역에 갇혀 놀이하 던 것에서 벗어나, 유치원 전체 공간을 경험하였다. 다음으로, 놀이 공간 구성 과정의 의미 는 3가지로 분류되었다. 첫째, 기능 및 성격적인 측면에서 통합학급 유아들은 모두의 공간 을 만들기 위해 공간을 비우기도 하고 채우기도 하면서 변화시켰고, 시각적인 표시를 통해 누구나 놀이 공간을 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 둘째, 역할적인 측면에서는 자유로운 표현을 하는 장애 유아와 창조적인 공간 활용을 하는 비장애 유아, 공간에 대한 고정관념을 깬 통 합학급 교사와 학급 개방을 통해 자유로운 분위기를 형성한 특수학급 교사의 역할을 볼 수 있었다. 셋째, 관계적인 측면에서는 구성원이 서로 강한 개성을 띠며 갈등을 겪었지만 공간 의 공유 속에서 상상이 가능한 공간으로 변화되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과들은 완 전통합에 대한 개념을 재정립할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 공간도 유아들의 표현 수단이 되 며, 관계 형성에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요소임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the processes and meanings of creating and transforming place spaces in an inclusive kindergarten class. For this purpose, the investigator founds participants in 14 young children aged three, four, or five years old from two inclusive classes and one special class at a kindergarten attached to an elementary school in D City based on qualitative methodology in June∼December, 2020. Young children, who used to play only within a space formed in the classroom, had experiences with another class other than their own class. Next, the meaning of creating and transforming was classified into three categories. In an inclusive class, young children transformed their spaces through emptying and filling to create a space suitable for all and had visual markings for anyone to make use of play spaces. Second, the study examined changes to the roles of members of an inclusive class. And third, Individual members of an inclusive class had conflicts with one another due to their strong individualities and colors and started to a new space where they could imagine with the participation of all. The study also holds its significance in demonstrating that spaces can be means of expression for young children and an important element influencing their formation of relationships.
