사치자원에 대한 유아의 분배 행동 양상 및 이유

국문 초록

본 연구는 사치자원에 대한 유아들의 분배 행동 양상과 그 이유를 탐색하는 것을 목적으 로 하였다. 만 4~6세 유아 159명을 대상으로, 유아와의 개별 면담을 통해 분배 과제를 들 려준 후, 유아가 자원을 분배하고 그 이유에 대해 설명하는 방식으로 진행하였다. 연구 결 과, 첫째, 유아들은 사치자원을 ‘좋아하는 물건이지만 꼭 필요하지는 않고, 대체 가능한 물 건들’이라고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 유아들은 업적이 다른 3명에게 사치자원을 분배할 때 모든 연령과 성별에서 동일한 개수로 분배하는 비율이 가장 높게 나타났으나, 연령이 높아 질수록 차등을 두어 분배하는 비율이 점차 높아졌다. 셋째, 사치자원에 대한 유아들의 분 배 행동의 이유는 크게 평등과 업적으로 나누어지며, 평등은 다시 공평, 감정 고려, 선호 고 려, 기타의 4가지로, 업적은 결과 고려, 노력 고려, 노력ㆍ결과 고려, 선호ㆍ결과 고려, 선 호ㆍ노력ㆍ결과 고려의 5가지로 나누어졌다. 이는 유아들이 사치자원이 무엇인지 인식하고 있으며, 다양한 이유를 고려하여 분배 결정을 함을 보여준다. 본 연구는 유아들의 동일한 분배 행동이라고 할지라도 그 이면에는 다양한 이유에 대한 고려가 있음을 밝혀냈다는 점 에서 의의가 있으며, 유아의 공정한 분배 결정을 지원해줄 수 있는 교육현장에서의 노력이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The study aimed to explore young children’s allocation action on luxury resources and reasons for their action. Participants were 159 four–to–six olds, and after listening to a resource allocation task through individual interviews with them, they allocated resources and told the reason for their allocation action. The results are as follows. First, children recognized luxury resources as ‘favorite items, but not significantly necessary, and replaceable items.’ Second, when children allocated luxury resources to three dolls with different merits, the ratio allocating equally to three dolls was the highest in all ages and genders, but the ratio of allocating differently to the dolls was gradually higher with age. Third, the children’s reasons for allocation action were divided into two main categories: equality and merit. Further, equality was subdivided into fairness, considering others, considering preference, and the others; merit was subdivided into considering outcome, considering effort, considering effort and outcome, considering preference and outcome, and considering preference, effort, and outcome. That is, children recognized what luxury resources were and considered various reasons in their resource allocation. These findings suggest that even if it is the same allocation action of children, there are considerations for various reasons behind it, and also suggest efforts in the educational settings to support fair allocation decisions for children are needed.
