독일인 에카르트의 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』(1965)에 대하여

국문 초록

이 글은 독일인 에카르트의 한국어 문법서인 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』(1965)를 분석하는 글이다. 에카르트는 1909년에 조선에 입국한 베네딕트 수도원 소속 신부이자 국어학자이다. 음악, 미술, 건축 등 폭넓은 분야에 관심을 보였던 에카르트는 그 중에서도 한국어에 지대한 관심이 있었다. 20여 년 동안 조선에 머물면서 한국어의 다양한 면모를 공부하였으며, 이후 독일로 돌아가 환속한 이후에도 그의 연구는 끊임없이 이어졌다. 연구는 책으로 발간되었는데 본 글에서는 에카르트의 여러 저서 중에서도 다섯 번째 저서라 할 수 있는 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』(1965)를 분석한다. 이 책은 외국어로서의 한국어를 다룬 교재인 『조선어교재문전』(1923)이나 문법서인 『Grammatik der koreanischen Sprache』(1962), 통합교재(워크북)의 성격을 띠는 『Übungsbuch der koreanischen Sprache』(1963)에 담겨 있던 내용에서 한 단계 나아가 한국어의 음성음운론, 문법론, 문자론뿐 아니라 대조언어학에 가까운 내용까지 폭넓은 내용이 담겨 있다. 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』(1965)를 연구 대상으로 삼음으로써 에카르트가 저술한 한국어 문법서를 분석하는 연구의 맥을 잇는 것이 목표이다.

영문 초록

This article analyzes 『Studien zur Koreanischen sprachech』(1965), a Korean grammar book by German Eckardt. Eckardt was a priest and Korean linguist who entered Joseon in 1909. Eckardt, who was interested in a wide range of fields such as music, art, and architecture, was especially interested in Korean. He stayed in Joseon for 20 years and studied various aspects of the Korean language. After returning to Germany, his research continued. This article analyzed 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』(1965), which can be said to be the fifth book among Eckardt's many books. This book combines the contents of previous books that have the characteristics of Korean textbooks as foreign languages and grammar books. And the book also contains not only the theory of phonetic phonology, grammar, and writing of the Korean language, but also contents close to contrast linguistic. The goal is to connect the study of Eckhart's book by analyzing 『Studien zur koreanischen sprache』.
