영문 초록

This study investigated the effects of craft activity program on cognitive function, depression, and self-esteem of the elderly people in rural area as an intervention to promote mental health of the elderly. The 13 participants were elderly people with an average age of 82.8 years, and most of them were living alone after the death of their spouses. The craft activity program was conducted once a week, a total of 10 times, and the results are as follows. As a result of evaluating cognitive function and depression before and after the craft activity program, there was a statistically significant difference. The geriatric depression score of patients who received the craft activity program decreased from an average of 18.46 point to 12.33 point and there was a significant difference (p<0.05). In the results of the study, the results of self-esteem were presented, but there was no statistically significant difference before and after the implementation of program. When the craft activity program was applied to elderly people depression disorder in rural area, the symptoms of depression and cognitive function improved. Although this study was conducted only for the elderly in rural areas, it is expected that useful information can be presented to present policies on the welfare of the elderly in rural areas and continuous interest in the elderly in the community
