부정적 신체상과 우울증상의 관계: 무조건적 자기수용의 조절효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 부정적 신체상과 우울증상의 관계에서 무조건적 자기수용의 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이 목적을 위해 신체상 척도, 우울증상 척도, 무조건적 자기수용 척도를 초등학교 5학년과 6학년 193명(남자 89명, 여자 104명)에게 실시하였다. 연구결과, 부정적 신체상은 우울증상과는 정적 상관관계, 무조건적 자기수용과는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 아울러, 무조건적 자기수용은 우울증상과 부적 상관관계를 나타내었으며, 부정적 신체상과 우울증상의 관계에서 조절변인으로 기능하였다. 본 연구는 부정적 신체상을 지닌 초등학생의 우울증상에 대해 무조건적 자기수용과 관련된 개입의 가능성을 시사한다. 또한 임상집단을 대상으로 하여 본 연구의 결과를 재검증할 것이 요망된다.

영문 초록

This investigation examined the association between negative body image and depressive symptoms and the moderating effect of unconditional self-acceptance of the relationship between negative body image and depressive symptoms in early adolescence. 193 students in fifth or sixth grade (47.2% grade 6) completed the Body Esteem Scale, the Children Depression Inventory, and the Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire. Findings showed that negative body image was positively associated with depressive symptoms, whereas unconditional self-acceptance was negatively associated with depressive symptoms. In addition, unconditional self-acceptance moderated the relationship between negative body image and depressive symptoms for early adolescents. Results from this study have implications for developing intervention programs targeting elementary students with negative body image. Recommendations for further study and limitations of the results are discussed.
