Impact of Family-of-Origin Experience on Therapist’s Couple Relationship

국문 초록

이 연구의 목표는 치료사의 원 가족 경험(family-of-origin: 원가족의 질과 인식된 부모 간의 관계)이 치료사 자신의 커플 관계 (커플 만족도 및 커플 소통)와의 상관 관계를 조사하는 것이다. 본 연구에는 미국에서 다양한 정신 건강 라이센스를 소유한 치료사(N-312, 심리상담사, 부부가족치료사, 임상 사회복지사, 정신건강 치료사 등)이 참여하였다. 공분산(ANCOVA)과 계층적 다중 회귀 분석 결과, 치료사가 인식한 어린 시절 부모 두 사람 사이의 관계가 커플 관계에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았지만, 원가족의 경험의 질이 더 높았던 치료사는 현재 본인의 커플 만족도와 커플 의사소통이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 임상적 의미와 추가 연구가 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The goal of this study is to examine whether therapists’ family-of-origin (FOO) experience (FOO quality and perceived interparental relationship) is associated with their couple’s relationship (couple satisfaction and communication). Various licensure types (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, licensed psychologist, etc.) of mental health therapists (N-312) in the U.S. participated in this study. An analysis of hierarchical multiple regressions revealed that therapists with better FOO quality have higher couple satisfaction and better couple communication, although therapists’ interparental relationship did not show significant impact on couple relationship. Clinical implications and further research are discussed.
