아동보호치료시설에 적용된 돈 보스코 ‘예방교육’에 대한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 사회학습의 시각에서 예방교육의 효과성을 살펴보는 것이다. 질적 사례연구 방법을 활용한 본 연구는 살레시오청소년센터에서 실천하는 예방교육의 구조와 특징을 살펴보고, 예방교육의 실천이 청소년들에게 어떤 영향을 주는지 그 실천적 효과에 대해 알아보았다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면, 청소년센터에서 적용되는 예방교육은 이성, 종교, 친절한 사랑의 가치를 바탕으로 하는 교육적 행위로 구조화 되어 있다. 이성은 평정과 공정의 도구로서, 종교는 정신적 안식처이며 올바른 윤리적 가치를 제시하는 역할을 하며, 친절한 사랑은 친밀한 교육적 환경을 구축하는 역할을 하였다. 이러한 핵심 가치들은 교육자들의 아씨스텐자(assistenza) 실천으로 통합되어, 청소년들과 교육적 관계를 형성하고 교육적 상호작용이 활발하도록 이끌었다. 교육자의 희생과 노력으로 이루어지는 아씨스텐자는 청소년들이 교육자의 노력을 알게 하고, 그들을 신뢰하도록 이끌었다. 아씨스텐자를 통한 교육적 상호작용은 청소년들의 어른에 대한 왜곡된 시선을 바로잡고, 그들의 인성을 발전시키며, 그들이 청소년센터를 ‘집’ 혹은 ‘제2의집’으로 느끼게 하며 지속적인 교육적 개입이 일어나게 하는 긍정적인 결과로 이어졌다. 그러므로, 본 연구의 결과들은 아씨스텐자를 통해 표현되는 예방교육이 위계적이고 권위주의적인 학교 문화가 청소년과 소통하는 친근한 교육 환경을 건설하고, 편견과 선입견의 낙인으로 차별받아 학교 밖으로 내몰리는 청소년들과 교육적 관계를 회복할 수 있는 치료의 교육학적 역할을 할 수 있음을 제안한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the Preventive System through the lens of social learning theories. This study employing a case study method investigated the structure and character of the Preventive system applied in the Salesian youth center and the educational effects on the youth. The finding shows that the Preventive System is structured by the educational practice based on the value of reason, religion, and loving-kindness. These core values incorporated in assistenza leads to build the relationships between educators and the young and catalyze interaction between them. Assistenza built upon sacrifice and efforts of the educators, drives students to realize the educators’ efforts and trust in them. Such interaction renders the positive outcomes such as correcting students’ notion on male adults, developing the character of the young, while allowing the educational intervention in the life of the young. This finding suggests that the Preventive System can play the role of a remedial pedagogy that helps restore the educational relationships with students who are dehumanized by bias and prejudice, while building a familiar educational environment that enables to communicate with young people at the hierarchical and authoritarian school culture.
