국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 정신장애인의 인권존중수준에 대한 인식이 고등교육지원 욕구에미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 생애전환기 청년기가 중장년기 및 기타 연령집단과 비교하여인권존중수준에 대한 인식과 고등교육지원 욕구 간의 관계에서 차이를 보이는지를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 정신재활시설 이용자 305명을 대상으로 조사한 자료를 활용하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정신장애인의 인권존중수준에 대한 인식이 높을수록 고등교육지원 욕구가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청년기 정신장애인은 다른 연령집단에 비해 고등교육지원 욕구가 높았으며, 셋째, 인권존중수준에 대한 인식과 고등교육지원 욕구 간의 관계에서 청년기 여부의 조절 효과가 유의미하게 나타났다. 연구결과를 토대로, 정신장애인의 고등교육지원 욕구에 부응하는 인권을 존중하는 환경과 청년기 욕구에 부합하는 고등교육 지원체계 구축을 위한 실천적⋅정책적 함의와 발전방안을 논하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims (1) to examine the effect of perception of the level of respect for human rights on the higher education needs among individuals with psychiatric disabilities, and (2) to examine whether young adults differs compared to other age groups in the relationship between perception of the level of respect for human rights and the higher education needs. For this purpose, multiple regression analysis was performed using survey data involving 305 individuals with psychiatric disabilities who are using a psychiatric rehabilitation facility. Key findings are as follows. (1) The higher level of perceived human right friendly environment, the higher needs of the higher education. (2) Young adults with psychiatric disabilities presented higher levels of needs for higher education support services than their counterparts. (3) The effects of perception of the level of respect for human rights on needs for higher education support services differ by age groups. Based on these results, implications for policy and practice were discussed to establish a higher education support system that meets human rights and needs for higher education among young adults with psychiatric disabilities.
