생태유아교육기관 영아교사의 천기저귀 사용 경험에 관한 의미 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 생태유아교육기관의 영아교사가 천기저귀 사용을 통하여 어떤 경험을 하고 있는지, 이러한 경험이 영아교사에게 주는 의미는 무엇인지를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 생태유아교육현장에서 영아에게 천기저귀를 사용하고 있는 어린이집 2곳에 근무하는 8명의 교사들을 대상으로 2012년 8월부터 2012년 10월까지 총 12회기에 걸친 그룹면담과 연구자 저널을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 자료를 분석한 결과 생태유아교육기관의 영아교사들은 천기저귀에 대한 경험적 지식이나 정보없이 천기저귀를 사용하게 되어 생태유아교육기관의 영아교사로서 부족함을 느끼게 되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 천기저귀의 사용으로 인해 육체적 힘듦을 느끼고, 하루 일과 운영의 방해를 받으며, 학부모의 이해와 지지부족으로 인한 어려움을 느끼고 이러한 어려움들로 인해 때로는 교사로서의 전문성에 대한 회의감까지 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이러한 어려움에도 불구하고 자신의 신념을 지켜 보육하는 것에 대해 생태유아교사로서의 자부심을 가지고, 아이들의 건강과 환경보존을 위해 일조하는 생태적인 삶을 실천하고 있는 것으로 그 의미를 도출해 낼 수 있었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 어려움만으로 인식되어 온 천기저귀 사용이 갖는 다른 의미를 파악함으로써 영아교사의 전문성 신장을 위한 제도적 방법 모색과 함께 돌봄을 영아교사의 전문성으로 포함시키기 위한 유아교육계 내부의 노력, 교육적·환경적 가치에 대한 사회적 인식의 변화에 대한 논의점과 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to find out what experience the infant teacher of eco-early childhood education who use cloth diapers for infants and what the meaning of using of cloth diapers with the experience. For this research, group interviews was conducted on eight teachers working and using cloth diapers for infants, in two places of childcare center in the field of eco-early childhood education and collected data by teacher’s journals by total 12 sessions over the course of three months from August 2012 to October 2012. The result of analysis showed that the infant teachers of eco-early childhood education feel the lack of teaching quality as teacher by the reason of becoming use of cloth diapers without having any experienced knowledge or information of cloth diapers and also by using cloth diapers feel physically challenging, interruption of daily work, difficulties from the lack of parent’s understanding and support, and sometimes infant teachers even feel skeptical thought to their teacher professionalism by these difficulties. But despite these difficulties the research showed meaningful result that infant teachers have their pride as eco-early childhood education teacher with the belief of childcare and practice ecological life helping the health of children and environment conservation. As identifying other means of cloth diapers use which have been recognized only the difficulties, the internal efforts in early childhood education field are needed for the institutional method exploration of infant teacher’s professional development. And with this exploration, the caring has to be included in the area of teacher’s expertise at early childhood education. Based on these findings, the discussion points and implications for the internal efforts of early childhood education field, the changes of social recognition of educational and environmental value were presented.
