국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 북한이탈여성이 외상 후 성장 과정에서 자신의 삶의 의미를 능동적으로 구성하는 행위자성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이에 이 연구는 북한 사회 및 탈북과정에서 외상을 경험하고 남한 사회에서 외상 후 성장 경험을 기술할 수 있는 북한이탈여성을 2019년 4월부터 12월까지 면담한 4명을 사례연구로 탐구하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들의 외상 경험은 가족 해체로 인한 정서적 외상 경험 및 탈북과정에서 체화한 사회구조적 차별로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구 참여자들은 외상 후 성장으로 인한 행위자성의 발현은 성찰적 주체로서 자아를 형성하고, 사회적 공동체 및 교육 자본을 통하여 행위자성을 강화하였다. 더 나아가 사회적 변화의 주체적 행위자로서의 사회적 정체성을 형성하며 타자와의 연대적 실천의 삶을 지향하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 이들의 외상 후 성장 경험에 따른 행위자성의 재구성을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the agency of North Korean female defectors as they actively reconstructed the meaning of their lives post defection trauma. Therefore, this case study followed four North Korean defectors who met together from April to December 2019 during which they described their post-traumatic growth experiences in South Korean society. The conclusions are as follows. First, the study participants experienced emotional trauma due to family dissolution and social structural discrimination embodied in the process of defection. Second, the study participants formed the self as a reflective subject by the expression of agency due to post-traumatic growth, and strengthened agency through social community and educational capital. Third, study participants formed social identities as subjective actors of social change and aimed for lives of solidarity practice with others. This study discusses the reconstruction of agency according to study participants‘ experiences of post-traumatic growth.
