빈곤가정 아동의 꿈과 성장에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 빈곤가정 아동이 어떻게 자신의 꿈을 갖고 준비해나가는지의 과정을 그들의 목소리를 통해 탐색하고 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2015년 8월부터 9월까지 전국 11개 지역사회복지관을 이용하고 있는 빈곤가정 아동을 대상으로 포토보이스를 활용한 초점집단인터뷰를 실시하였고 수집된 자료에 대해 내용 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과,‘빈곤가정 아동은 어떻게 꿈을 꾸는가’와 ‘아동은 어떻게 꿈을 지키는가’의 두 가지 영역에 대한 하위 주제들이 도출되었다. 첫째, ‘아동은 어떻게 꿈을 꾸는가’에 대한 하위 주제로는‘소소한 일상에서 꾸는 꿈’, ‘닮고 싶은 사람을 보며 꾸는 꿈’, ‘주위의 인정을 통해, 인정을 향해 꾸는 꿈’, ‘까치발 들어 미래를 바라보며 꾸는 꿈’, ‘내 꿈을 징검다리 삼아 우리의 행복을 만드는 꿈’이 도출되었다. 둘째, ‘아동은 꿈꾸며 어떻게 성장해 나가는가’에 대한 하위 주제로는 ‘모호함 속에서도 계속 생각함’, ‘끊임없이 나를 찾아나감’, ‘삶의 무게를 버티어냄’, ‘포기하지 않음’이 도출되었다. 이 연구는 사진을 통해 빈곤가정 아동의 꿈의 생성과 발전, 그 의미를 생생하게 드러냈다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다. 연구 결과를 토대로 빈곤가정 아동의 꿈과 성장을 지원하기 위한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore and understand the process of how children of low-income families design their dreams and prepare them, through their own voice. With that purpose, focus group interview was held with children of low-income families from 11 community welfare centers around Korea between August and September of 2015 with the application of photovoice. After the interview, analysis on the collected data followed. As a result, sub-themes were derived from two domains:‘how children in poverty dream’, and‘how children in poverty dream and grow’. Firstly, as sub-themes of‘how children in poverty dream’, there were‘dreaming in trivial everyday life’,‘dreaming by observing role model’,‘acknowledgement makes children dream’,‘dream of future on tiptoes’,‘dreaming of our happiness with my dream as a stepping stones’. Secondly, as to‘how children in poverty dream and grow’, sub-themes include‘keep thinking of it in spite of ambiguity’,‘continuously finding myself’, ‘enduring life s burden’,‘not giving up’. This study has its significance in that it vividly reveals, through photos, the creation, development and meaning of the dreams that children from low-income families have. Based on the research results, some practical implications are provided for supporting dreams and growth of children from low-income families.
