단도박자의 실존 재구성 과정 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 인간의 실존을 구성하는 요소인 감각, 감정, 사고, 행동이 도박 중독과 회복 과정에서 어떻게 변하는지를 탐구하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구의 목적 달성을 위해 단도박 중인 연구 참여자 10인과 1:1 심층면담을 실시했다. 면담을 통해 수집된 자료는 Giorgi(1970; 1985)가 제안한 현상학적 방법으로 분석했다. 분석 과정에서 추출된 ‘의미단위’들을 23개의 ‘드러난 주제’로 재구성했으며, 드러난 주제들 간의 연관성을 검토하여 총 8개의 ‘본질적 주제’로 통합했다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 도박 중독 과정에서 ‘무감각’, ‘사고의 고착’, ‘양가감정’, ‘통제력 상실’을 체험했다. 각각의 체험은 서로 관련이 있었다. 감각, 감정, 사고, 행동이 서로 영향을 미치며 참여자들을 중독으로 이끌고 있었다. 둘째, 참여자들의 회복은 ‘감각회복’, ‘사고의 재구성’, ‘편안한 감정’, ‘절제하는 삶’과 관련이 있었다. 중독 과정에서와 마찬가지로 회복 과정에서 실존 구성 요소들은 상호 영향을 미치고 있었다. 셋째, 참여자들의 체험에 대한 주제들을 일관적 진술로 통합한 결과 단도박자들은 회복되는 과정에서 감각, 감정, 사고, 행동의 변화를 통해 자기 실존을 재구성하고 있었다. 연구자들은 연구결과를 바탕으로 ‘감각에 대한 개입’, ‘양가감정에 대한 개입’, ‘통제장치 마련’과 같은 실천적 대안들을 제시했다.

영문 초록

This study is to examine how a person’s senses, feelings, thoughts and actions, which are basic constituents of human existence, has changed in the gambling addicts’ recovering process. For this purpose, the 10 gambling abstinences were selected and interviewed in depth. The data collected from the interviews were analyzed by Giorgi s(1970; 1985) phenomenological method. The meaningful units were summarized by the 23 emerging themes, and they were reconstructed by the 8 essential themes by considering the interrelationships among themes. Major findings are as follows. Firstly, participants have experienced ‘dull senses’, ‘fixation of thoughts’, ‘ambivalent feelings’, and ‘loss of control’ while they were in the state of addiction. Each experience was mutually interrelated; senses, feelings, thoughts, and actions were influencing each other and led them together to addiction. Secondly, participants recovery were related to ‘recovery of senses’, ‘reconstruction of thoughts’, ‘relaxed feelings’, and ‘abstinent life’. As was in the stage of addiction, the basic constituents of existence were mutually interrelated in the process of recovery. Thirdly, their recovery process was summarized as the reconstruction process of their existence by changing their senses, feelings, thoughts, and actions. Thirdly, we proposed some practical suggestions for ‘sense development’, ‘intervention to ambivalent feeling’, ‘setting the control mechanism’, based upon the research outcomes.
